@youngandtired: Hi! Welcome to the Basenji Forum, this is a great place for chatting about our furbabies, and getting information. So, your baby is 4, please tell me that they will stop chewing, and surfing the tables. My Sahara, would be just great if she didn't do this. I love her just the same, but I have lost things I can't get back that she has chewed. My Basenjis right now range in age from 12 1/2 to 15 3/4…. :p They still surf, however they have pretty much stopped chewing... :D But that is just cause they are old.... and the teeth are not as great!

Welcome to the forum…there are a lot of nice people here who are very helpful...I have a red and white female B, she is my first B, so I know ffom first hand how useful this forum is...I recently moved from Southern NV, Las Vegas, to TN...boy what a change...look forward to pixs of your baby...

Welcome and kudos to you for helping with rescues! It sounds like Kowboy was a great introuction to the breed. I'm sorry for your loss of him and Indy. this is a great place to share and keep memories alive. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a speedy relocation back to your family in CA!

Of course you and your beautiful baby are welcome no snobbs here. And I do agree there's a B in there. Your baby is really sweet looking, enjoy. I also have a rescue and believe me they give back a thousand times more then what you give them.

Yes Kat!! Come to the big dog park on Sunday!! Cairo is officially ready to get back into the pack.. I will be happy to meet you at any dog park in Pinellas county as well!! Cairo is ready to play with another basenji his age!

Hello and welcome…Manning is so cute...we are in Knoxville also, we have a B named Jojo and she is 11yr, we adopted her from BRAT this past February...again welcome (I wonder where you got the name "Manning"?hummmm...)

@felakuti: thanks for letting me know about Echo of the Wind…it's fun to keep track of what's going on, isnt it? :) The more I learn, the more fun it is and I was never that interested in dog shows. I'm just starting to understand just what they're looking at.:eek: He is a really nice dog.:)

Most of the toys made FOR dogs don't have button eyes; and most dogs don't actually eat the stuffing. But if it is a concern for you, simply pick up the stuffing as they gut the critters and toss it. Mine enjoy the flattened critters almost as much as the stuffed ones. These are the ones they'll play tug-of-war with.

And unless this is a show puppy that the breeder plans on showing, it really should be required to spay/neuter… IMO.... There is no reason to leave him in-tact....

Welcome, Andyboy! I too had see the movie and loved it as a kid. I haven't seen it in years so I don't remember it. I have the book though and plan to read it with my daughter this summer. The movie introduced me to the breed, but it was ultimately allergies that led me to own one, much like JazzysMom. Enjoy the forum…I know I do. Post more pictures when you can!

Welcome to the forum. You've already heard from the multiple dog experts - I only have one and she's dominant too. I didn't socialize her properly with other dogs, but she's not aggressive. This is a great place to get good advice and there's lots of laughs too! Post pictures when you can!
