    Glad Otis is better.
    My second beastie was a trash diver and I finally bought one of those bathroom cans that open only when you step on the lever. It works well for me.

    That is exactly the type of trash can I want to find. Thanks for telling me that you have one and your smart b's are leaving it alone..
    Yes Otis is much better, I am still giving him his meds per the vet and the bland foods, so his poor botttom has a break, and he is bored with the food let me tell you..but in desperate times..ha ha.

    Don't know how tall Otis is, but be aware that they can still figure out the step on cans - especially if 2 of them work together! We have 2 that figured out if one stepped on the lever, the top would open and the other one could drag stuff out or even tip over the whole can! Aaah, Basenjis, too bad Coren thinks they aren't smart, LOL

    ok, so that made me laugh..I bet it is a sight to be seen when they team work like that..Otis is tall, 17+ in his shoulders, and he is trying to figure out our step butterfly opening trash can in the kitchen..scary.

    You could always try a little tee tree oil or vicks vapo rub around the rim to keep him away.

    That would probably work, because he hates the smell of tea tree oil..I will try that.
    So far he has not even paid attention to the trash cans, but our new foster Dotty, she is a pain, she even came running through the house last night with the trash can lid stuck around her neck…darn dog..

    I told you before how Ashley has gotten Jaycee to leave all of our trash cans alone. Ashley chased Jaycee through house like it was after her it was funny and Jaycee did not get hurt in any way. She did not want that trash can to touch her then she took the can back to kitcken and waited Jaycee went in looked at can and Ashley just took her foot and kind of moved it Jaycee was like no that thing moves. Then Ashley was taking big trash cans out by road for trash day we had Jaycee out on leash was like o no thoses are the parents got to get into house right now they also move. Trash can story over.

    I am just seeing this thread and so glad Otis is OK! You feel so helpless when your pup is sick and you don't know what to do.

    We have a small metal trash in the bathroom with a lid and a step-on pedal. My Nicky just raises the lid with her little nosey-nose and steals tissues! I always took 'female things' directly outside to the big trash can!

    Macpack, that is exactly what I will be doing from here on out, even though I got a new fancy trash can. Who knows, he might not have gotten so sick from trash digging, but I am not willing to take another chance..
    Yes helpless is definitely how you feel.. but he is all well, still on antibotic and bland foods, but I am slowly introducing his normal diet, and I bought some probiotics and digestive enzymzes for him to take as well..any thing for a healthy gut..lol

    The FDA can only do what the laws allow and if the govt is controlled by lobbyist, well.... But this isn't the place for politics so I'll leave it at that. I am very sorry about your horse. :( With meat.. it's particularly red meat that research is linking to cancer... early research shows amount is a big factor (recommendations from 4 oz a day to max 18 oz a week), but who knows. Processed meat is the worse, and I saw some headline (didn't bother to read since I like my beef shortly after it stops mooing) that well done steaks more carcinogenic. For the world, reducing red meat is good for the environment and health. I was reading a study last week on red meat and joint inflammation. Studies the last 15 years actually only have general connection, but that most do is a pretty good indicator. I had a doctor tell me to stop all red meat and milk when I was a teen and experiencing joint pain. It helped, but back then, no internet and not much access to current research. Here we are 45+ years later, and still no strong proof and some show that reducing carbs with increased LEAN red meat actually decreased inflammation. However, we then get this Science Catch-up. According this new Harvard study involving 46,500 participants, eating high amounts of red meat daily might be a risk factor for gut inflammation and the development of diverticulitis. << So no one has absolute proof, but my money is on reducing red meat is more likely to be healthier than not. I just don't rule out all meat (ie fish and fowl) as getting enough protein is pretty hard and we don't have enough hard research for ME to go vegetarian. But I'm open to it and glad you are having success.

    @Abaihya think you need a new Vet, no way should the Thyroid blood test be that price.... They draw the blood and it is sent out....

    Pat, yeah, it was many but the specialist from GA (who does CERF btw, or did, could be retired at this point) said all were iris to iris and none should cause her issues. But you can still see them. I am comforted to know that a lot of strands don't pass as I honestly don't remember seeing that limitation, only on placement. Been a long time since I looked at CERF. But the issue was and then, the person LIED. She sent me a puppy for my child, who already had more on her than any child should with my health issues, that she obviously had no clue about– a puppy she had no clue about it's eye health. And then wanted her back if I wasn't going to breed her as she would. Yeah, over my dead body.

    Who would have thought that worms were so interesting. My farm vet insists that dogs be wormed monthly but mine are on a weekly homeopathic wormer. I'm so pleased that Nahla has got rid of hers. And i accept what others have said about the possibility of a pup womitting up a worming tablet.

    This could possibly be a minor epileptic attack. I have seen a video of many forms of these attacks (no basenjis) many of them very different and this was an example. A canine neurologist could confirm.
