Every time I go in our basement I check our sump Pump (live at the bottom of a hill). I go over to the Sump Pump tube, give it a little shake and it kicks in.
My dog (tri) is always with me when I'm home and has picked up on the behavior, so now every time we go downs stairs, he has to shake the Sump Pump so it goes off. He is so happy when he does it, so proud. It's his new mission in life. I have to video tape him!
The other day I was upstairs and hear the sump pump go off. It starts clunking and making a loud racket, like it has rocks in it.
My wife said thats what it sounds like upstairs when he does it!
Too funny. Never underestimate the intelligence in these dogs.
HAHAHA And the Lab owners of the world think it's soooo great their dogs go out and get the morning news paper. Your B has them beat, hands down!!
(no offense intended Lab owners, but a septic system specialist in the house beats a news paper delivery boy any day:D)

Smart Basenji you got there, of course they are smart… they are Basenjis!!!
I have noticed that it is a lot easier to accidentally train a Basenji than on purpose. 
You would think he has become a "work" dog with the passion he has for this.
