It is difficult to give up a dog one has had for over 4 years! I lived in an apt. in Houston and I know that unless you walk the dog frequently or have it go to doggy day care and dog parks, the dog will not get enough exercise.

Lisa, you seem so genuinely excited that it makes ME excited for Mia to go to a loving home. I'm a little sad but at least I can keep the bathroom door open without worrying about a TP storm when I walk by!

I too want to thank you for your service to our country. As a veteran myself I know how it feels to have to leave your pet with someone else when you get deployed and then deciding that the best place for them is with that someone else. You are doing the best thing in the interest of Mia which is awesome, someday you will be able to have a pet again.

Lisa, your excitement is catching. You'll be a great new 'mom'. Perhaps you can start a new diary thread from when you start out to pick her up, and all your following weekly ups and downs. That way, if Marc can't read here when he deploys, you can print and snail mail him.

What a darling. Sadly, my girls were orphaned and adopted after their spirit was almost broken. Y'all have the opportunity to give these pups a wonderful life.

Hi Everyone….
I spent the afternoon doggie shopping for Mia. I am so excited I could hardly focus. A friend of mine took me to all the right places. She was the leader of our pack. LOL
Personally I am not a big fan of the color pink but I know a R/W Basenji looks great in pink. Needless to say alot of the items I purcased incorporated shades of pinks. I even purchased a pink & white tee shirt that says LIttle Princess.
After our little shopping spee, I went to a restaurant and had an ice tea. I should say a Long Island Ice Tea. That is just what I needed to calm myself down.
We are so thankful to Marc for choosing us to be Mia's new mommies. I can't wait to pick her up. Saturday can't come fast enough!!!!:) -
