    A must-see website called www.houseofbasenjis.com that's packed with lies and deception. That tri dog, "Duke," looks oddly familiar.....oh, wait...that's because this really is a picture of Blade, MBIS/MBISS AKC GCH-B ukcCH, Intl CH, CanCh AB Rafiki The Icon of Cool, SDHR, who incidentally has been living with me these past 7 years and not in Philadelphia shelling out puppies with Duchess for this idiot to sell. Take a closer look and you might spot other dogs you recognize as I would venture several of these photos have been pilfered from reputable breeders' website or social media. In the slideshow on the top banner is a picture taken from the AKC library and used in the Illustrated Basenji Standard. The most ironic part of this person's website is the comment "....we want to be sure that you are the right sort of person;..." REALLY?? Who the heck is the "right sort of person" that misrepresents the dogs he/she is trying to sell to innocent prospective buyers and who steals other people's photos? Please, please, please share this post world-wide to make people aware of this deceit.<<

    Thank you for the replies. Yes, either a total scam or just irresponsible, deceptive and lying individuals trying to make a buck. I am so glad I found this forum.

    One breeder from San Diego (Rancho Penasquitos) retired from their day jobs and moved to Texas; Bob & Terry Reed of Illusion Basenjis. Another San Diego breeder (Spring Valley) passed away almost 2 years ago; Doug Joy of Basenjis of Dune. Not all reputable breeders are visible on the BCOA website. Some don't want their kennels named because they do not breed very often. You should contact the breeder liaison via email for more breeders in California and other nearby states. The local breed club for southern California is The South Coast Basenji Fanciers. They can help you find a local breeder. The quickest way to get in touch with them if through their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SoCalBasenjiFanciers Northern California also has a breed club that you can contact, BCONC.     No, I haven't put my name out there as someone looking for a puppy, but she found my personal email from somewhere… I have my FB page restricted, so I don't think it's there, and I've never heard of her before. Just wondered if she was contacting others from here, too. ???

    @agilebasenji: So Breeder A said Breeder B didn't test? Personally, I'd do some homework before I'd believe what Breeder A said about Breeder B. Maybe it's true, and if it is SHAME on Breeder B! But I've learned that just because 2 people breed basenjis, doesn't mean they like each other. (And just for the record, I have no idea who Breeder A and Breeder B are.) Exactly…. and it is easy enough to check on the OFA site or Sally's pedigree site (of course that is not updated until OFA site is updated). But never go on what "he said/she said"... at least I don't... but there has been much discussion on other lists about well know breeder not testing or doing a questionable breeding with tested dogs... all pretty easily documented on the OFA site. So in some cases could be "he said/she said" with no truth to the statements..... as said, best and the responsible thing to do is check out your facts.
