When Taste of The Wild had the salmonella recall, due to a plant that makes it and many other dog food brands having salmonella contamination, I switched Kipawa to Acana kibble. He loves it.

His coat had more shine with Taste of the Wild bison, but by adding Omega oils to his food, curry comb brushing him daily (very soft bristles), and of course petting him a lot, his coat is looking superb. 🙂

Hi, just reading through some posts, and this one caught my eye. Most kennels know that a slight loss of appetite is inevitable and tell the customers as such(I do….) I try to wait till the next day to see if the new dog will eat as this being a natural survival instinct for a dog to eat when hungry. Always rare exceptions of course...another story... Anyway, may I suggest to help with the diarreah with the supplement of adding a teaspoon or so of pumpkin to the 'normal' food the dog is used to. A watered down version of a good canned food over the kibble also has done the trick with boarded dogs as well. Start off with half the kibble and then increase with dog's desire to continue so that the kibble will not go to waste as it is wet and bloated and will one will have a dish of bacteria if left out....Just talk it over with the attendant or Doctor as such.

If you and your vet are happy with their weight, I would not change the amount you're feeding them. However, my pups need more calories in the winter to maintain their weight.

Treats - my pups love sweet potatoes and raw (or cooked) zucchinis. sometimes dogs like green beans or carrots. at my house, tri-ing is really bad about taking the carrots, chewing them up and spitting them out all over the place. Yea, thanks Jet. Otherwise, they also like cheese, waffles, eggs, etc, but given you pup's allergies, you may not want to try the later.

LOL…. leave it to the "Tri-ing" to make a mess out of the carrots!!!!

The truth is all dry dog food has been processed and heated to death as to make it a poor food item no matter how good the ingredients are. Just look at it. That dry, crunchy pellet was actually meat, veggies, etc at one time.
