    @tanza: Exactly, I agree with Lisa… the hardest part is to talk them into taking it easy. However, that said, I very, very rarely use any medication for pain on a Spay or Neuter. I would rather they feel a bit of pain to slow themselves down. (After the first night) I think you will find in 3 or 4 days you would not even know that she had a surgery. Thank you Pat…very comforting to know she will bounce back in a few days or so.

    Hello Linda, was cruising through the Forum and here you are! Congrats on the new home. In case you don't remember me, I was looking for a B and you somehow responded then we spoke of the Rainbow Bridge…. I invited you to hook up your RV if you were ever in Fl. Anyway, the new boy I adopted is a Tri-and I noticed his left front leg is white just like Maxx's in his photos! Just too funny to see this! I just wanted to add as well, that if anyone in Fl has the need for an extended stay and cannot find a house sitter, I have boarded dogs in my 'front bedroom' that I dog proofed, and since I now have quite the friendly B, he would love to keep company with another I am sure!     Yes, so far so good. I forgot to mention that the new sliding door plus the new doggy door replacement will cost me AUS$1000.00. Gee I love my basenjis. Is there nothing I won't spend on them??? Getting back to Pepper, I have to agree that she is a smart dog. She worked out how to evade the water spray hazzard to headbang the doggy door and get inside. Who said basenjis weren't smart???

    You might also check with your local humane society animal shelter - the one here offers various classes (regular obedience plus good citizen plus plus) and you can take them at your own pace though I'm not sure how that works (I just got the notice). I buy most of my toys online since the stores around here cater to the hunting dogs. Don't forget to check Amazon.com too - they have a wide selection.

    Elsie is the same way. She is really mean to the other dogs in the neighborhood and we have many dogs around. I had to teach the dog owners that although Elsie is really cute she is not really nice. I found that it takes Elsie eight or nine times meeting a new dog before she lets them into her pack…..We have since been told by our trainer to come back to group classes to help with her aggression towards dogs that she doesn't know.
