My week with Lou and b's

Off Topic

  • We have spent a week up on Whidbey Is, Wa state area, and its been
fun. We have a cabin, rustic, but a bit of a view of the water.
Not to far from a beach where I can walk the dogs.
So, I am washing the dishes the first day there, and suddenly, my feet are wet.
The plumbing under the sink let go and water was everywhere…thankfully no b's were "hurt" by the dreaded water........
Saved by a couch to get up on...
Anyway, its been fun and the b's are trying to chase the rabbits and deer that are all over this island.

  • What fun! Are you able to let them run loose on the island? That would be worth living really rustic for awhile. Enjoy!

  • Sharron, so glad to hear that you, Lou and your b's are having a great little vacation. I've been on Whidbey Island. I just love the big wildnerness there. Such big green trees that smell so full of life.

Enjoy the rest of your vacation, my friend.

  • Sharron, so glad the b's didn't have to be airlifted!!!!!

Love Whidbey Island. Piece of interesting trivia: It is the 2nd longest Island in the US, after Kodiak Island in Alaska.

Enjoy the rest of your vacation!!!

  • The b's loved the rental..the sun woke me up at 6am, and when I had to leave the dogs, they went upstairs to lay on the bed in the sun..
Much joy was had by all!

  • I am envious:)

  • Thanks! I am headed to the basenji national in Co tomorrow.
I hope I can get some folks to take photos of Wheat for me.
    I love to share her…

  • Glad you're all enjpying your holiday. I'm looking forward to seeing more (and more) photos of Miss Wheat.

  • Any Whidbey photos?

  • Sharron, enjoy your time at the Nationals with Miss Wheat!

Chelsie-the B's don't get a chance to see them. The B's are in the front in a pen and the ducklings and chickens are in the back. After Shadow decided to help me butcher a chicken when we first moved in, I thought it prudent to keep them separated. They would definitely terrorize them. Yes, Robyn, I made the duck tractor. It has wheels on the one end so I can move it around. I do have a duck pen, and they will go in it when I fix the duck house. It seems rats, or something decided to make a meal of the one end and floor of the house. So, I have to fix that. I do really like it, but it won't be big enough in a couple of weeks for them. I will try to get more pics of the little monsters today. (And, the pen will work very well for one of the dogs if I ever need it!!) Yes, they grow very, very fast. If I can get a pic of them up and about, you will see how it's very hard to tell which one had the spraddle legs. The rouens are bigger than the muscoveys. There are three rouens and they have an eye stripe. We were in Ohio when I wrote it. Ohio was admitted to the Union on March 1, 1803, but Congress apparently forgot to vote on the resolution. It was finally rectified on August 7, 1953, which technically makes Ohio the 47th state. However, it is counted as the 17th because it wasn't Ohioans who created the problem. Who says our Federal government isn't efficient? Zanesville, OH is the location of the Y Bridge, which starts and ends on the same side of the river. But that's where we were. The wolverine is the official state animal and nickname of the state. Fur trappers from Canada brought pelts across the state and folks further south assumed (there's that word again) the pelts were trapped in Michigan. The Detroit Red Wings assembled the Russian Five, who propelled the Hockey team to the Stanley Cup in 1997. Within a few days of the win, one of the team members was permanently benched in an auto accident, but the remaining four were instrumental in the 1998 and 2002 Stanley Cup wins for the Red Wings. We will be in Grand Rapids, MI tomorrow morning. Ms. Basenjimamma: The temperature here right now is 51F. :)

@AJs: It's been a very long time since I read The Wizard of Oz. Is Wichita where the story starts? I googled "Dorothy's House Wichita" and nothing came up except ways to get to Liberal. That's where the house is that is advertised all over Kansas as THE Dorothy's House. From what I understand (and I have been wrong before…it could happen again) the house in Liberal is where they did some of the filming. But I love the Witch-ita reference...:D I think Dorthy's house was just considered to be a farm house "out in the middle of nowhere".

@Natalplum: You both are in my thoughts. I hope your DH comes home safe and healthy. You will NEVER be lonely with your B's around. They are the best to call on for some love and comfort. Not to mention a lot of laughs! That's the best thing having a B brought into my life. I was so depressed, and then along came a B to make me laugh again. Worth their weight in gold, for sure….
