I buy the Canine Carryouts, in the Beef flavor? They are soft, and you can really squish them down in there! It takes quite a while, for Callie to get it out of there! :)

Can an older dog be clicker trained, or should that be saved for young pups? Giz isn't bad at all, but the only command he will obey with consistancy is sit.

@Quercus: <_> I would guess yes. My puppy is 10 weeks, and she probably weights 8lbs. She eats a total of 1-1.5 cup of Innova Puppy food each day. I give her one adult size biscuit, and a few training treats most days also. I don't know what is in Bil Jack. But if there is corn, it might make her more gassy. Who is her breeder?_ _ yeah there is corn :/ hmm should I switch then? the gas isn't so bad today, it was a few days ago, but not so much she's not eating the whole bowl like she used to so I should split the 1 cup into 3rds for her 3 feeding times then? her breeder is a lady named Sandy who lives about an hour north of me in New Port Richy, she has bread the mom and dad three times so far and I got to play with them they are really sweet dogs! I hope Bindi is just like her dad <3 he's so well crate trained she gave me a paper with the breeding line too, it goes back three generations ~Kat_

Our intent was to only be a foster home for Zeus. All in all, I think things would have improved with time. I talked with his new parents this morning and he is 90 lbs of happy! :D

Zahra is not weird! Sophie (our b/w girl) has two distinct baroos, a happy one and a not so happy one. The first pops out when we come home from being out for hours or when she is playing with Stick. The second is more gutteral and comes out when she is having seperation anxiety or hears firetruck sirens. It has a higher pitch and feels like it can burst your eardrums when she lets it rip!

That sounds good! I am working with the positive reinforcement, and for the most part it works, just in that instance she goes "deaf". I also "clicker" train Callie, and she loves that!

a black rat snake crawled right down the center of their yard and they didn't touch it. Circled around it like it was really something, but kept their distance. After seeing Basenji Park in person and seeing pictures on the forum of the reptiles that have called Basenji Park home, I'm guessing the pups probably just thought the snake belonged there B-Boy! ;) :D

I do now seeing what you say I do agree with a more verbal and/or stand up and as you say "higher dog" split them up. And I have seen this many times, where my boxer would do that at a dog park, he's such a dork lol, some dogs would start arguing and he'd go shoulder his way inbetween them and just stand there. I can also understand your point that there are a high number of boxers that don't get the clue and subtle hints, and part of it JMO is back to training. And the whacking them in the face, yep thats a boxer, lol. And I can understand that Basenjis don't like that. When we frst met our neighbor that had a Basenji, Reggie tried his normal "boxer" techniques (but thankfully he's not a face wacker) to get the B to play, pawing at him, low woofs, etc, since that didn't work he took the B's toy and stood there squeaking it at him and then took off in a game of chase, they were friends until we moved away.

Those magic elves must have transported Bruiser up the stairs and into my bedroom. I got back from the gym and I heard his collar up there. He had gotten into everything. I hate magic elves!

Hmmm, I wouldn't put it past the sneaky devil. Well, good luck to him, then, cuz there is NOTHING that will make me stop wanting another little B!

Terry – I am SOOO glad Jojo has finally arrived. Once she has adjusted to her new home perhaps she and Hollie can have a playdate. I can't wait to meet her!! We may have our own basenji playgroup eventually!!
