Heck, I never fed my puppies mush either, just softened kibble. And it didn't seem to take very long before the pups would be sitting in the mom's dog dish chewing on her dry kibble.
When you think about it… softened kibble is mush.... just all depends on how you offer it. And I only do "mush" between 3 to 4 wks after that it is just softened kibble... and in the end.. that is mush
Yeah ive felt the needles…they are def. getting teeth now! She doesnt nurse as often anymore and is ALWAYS wanting to be away from them. I have to put her in the kitchen myself with them or she'd stay away 24/7. They seem to have no interest in water right now. But its always available.
Once the eyes open, I start mine on food, however I grind up kibble into a powder and mix with milk replacement till it is like thick, thick soup. Then I let them lick it off my fingers…. they catch on pretty quickly.
Then by about 3 1/2 wks they are pretty good at eating this a few times a day. Try and time it so that they are offered the food before they nurse.
@Fran… aw 🙂 Yeah, I can't wait to experience being dogpiled by the whole litter 🙂
@Lisa; I don't plan on showing, but I'm sure my pup and I will visit shows often. I like the environment and the certian level of "Crazy" that I get to behold at dog shows, but I don't have the time to finish a dog, so I'd be doing the pup a dishonor by even attempting to get him show-ready. Kyle and Steve have remarked that they're going to make a handler out of me, though... so who knows! lol
Not to mention what you will call them when you're angry! 🙂 I also like two syllable names, but often end up using one syllable, e.g. "Perry" sometimes gets "Pay", and my horse, "Hero" often just gets "Roe".
Oi, a store in the mall that sells pets? No bueno.
Moochie and Co. is the shop I'm referring to. They've got so many dog toys and treats, leashes and collars, and coats, oh my! It's a neat little botique, minus the tiny dust-buster dog that's constantly following you around… 😛 It might be where I get Azi's first Ohio State collar during football season (ya know, if the buckeyes ever turn it around)
