It was a great time! It was great having Cairo and Chloe and Levi join us, and meeting Buddy for the first time. We'll be meeting at Balboa again on Sunday, January 11 at 2 pm. Can't wait to see everyone. Any other San Diego 'senjis out there that want to play? We should be doing a No County Saturday meetup on January 24 too; we'll keep you posted as details develop. @sharronhurlbut: Training with treats will work, if you take it slow. Clicker training works as well. I was going to say the same thing. I would carry a treat bag with me, and a clicker when out on leash. Use the clicker to mark correct behavior, i.e., sitting calmly while another dog passes. If my dog gets snarky on leash, I promptly stand in front of him, and put him in a sit/wait with a focus on ME (not the other dog). if he persists, I simply become a "goalie" and continue to block his path, get eye contact, and again, get a sit/wait.

Try putting the wires in 'wiring loom' or pvc or even metal conduit. It can all be painted to match the surroundings. Loom is cheap and it might just be different enough to confuse your B into thinking it's not really a wire worth chewing at all. If this doesn't work, PVC is hard to chew but if your B wants to chew it, can eventually get through it. Metal condiut would be for the etreme case. There is also steel reinforced plastic/pvc conduit. It's basically flexible tubing with some metal mesh cast into it. You'll have to get that at a place that sells and installs car stereo. It's very flexible and soft and would be easy to chew through, but as I said, it might just confuse your B. :)

Great advice on the 10,000,000,000 beads – I was careful today to check the toys I bought. Those can't be healthy for the pups - not to mention the house. Fiji is pretty delighted with the stuffed ball I got her. She's spent the last couple of hours alternately tearing it up and licking its wounds. Not quite velociraptor style (that cracked me up):D but the thing will definitely be history by bedtime. Well worth the 99 cent store price and a little clean-up time! Other than this, though, yeah, Fiji just doesn't seem to be into toys. Walks, and running into the other dogs in the neighborhood, are her happiest times. We're going to hook up with another basenji owner next weekend. I have a feeling she's going to love that.
