Codys dental visit

Off Topic
  • We took Cody to the vet for dental…he is almost 11 yr old.
Well, he had a cracked tooth, which they pulled.
He is pretty sore today, so has some mind pain meds.
My credit card is very sorry.
This visit cost me over $600 bucks.
BUT they are a really good vet, and have been my vet for years..
Its just all gotten so expensive!!
But if you have beloved dogs, you have to tend them...

  • Poor Cody, hope he's feeling much better soon.
No doubt he will recover quicker than your credit card, sharron ;)

  • Cody, see how much your Mom loves you? Sharron, I just love your devotion to your b's. Give both Cody and your credit card a hug for me.

  • Thanks Fran.. I think your right. This vet just got back from a month visit to Europe.
I see he is working on his next trip.
Seriously, he is a good vet, listens to you when you say something is wrong with your dog, doesn't push pills if he doesn't know what the issue is, and will take you in whenever you have an emergency.
So, really, he is worth it…sigh, or I keep telling myself. laugh.
    Hugs to you all.

  • Oh wait, how'd I miss this?? I just posted about dental work.

Sounds like a fun trip… it's one I'll be "looking forward" to soon. =P

I cannot imagine committing to buy a puppy without seeing the animal and if possible the sire and dam. OTOH, a rescue (or adoption of an older dog) is a different thing. My last two Basenjis came to me sight unseen, and turned out to be wonderful dogs, but the breeders I got them from wanted to place their dogs in an experienced Basenji home, and I only paid the cost of getting the dogs to me. One came by air, one was personally transported to me by his breeder. If she hadn't been happy with what she found I expect she would have taken him back with her when she left. I also had to commit to return him if ever I couldn't keep him. Good breeders care about where their dogs end up.

@kembe - Very True Kembe, here is a link on looking for a responsible breeder. https://bconc.org/finding-breeders-red-flags There are many scammers out there, don't fall for one.. or a person that is not a responsible breeder.

When my middle son and wife come to visit - they bring their 2 labs. I let the labs be loose in the house and kennel my basenjis - can't imagine the basenji 500 with 2 huge labs in a small house. As folks get older though the dogs can be an issue so don't know how much longer I'll be able to let them come. This Thanksgiving - 2 labs and 2 mature ladies with walkers was interesting. However when we would go and visit my husbands family - could never bring dogs - they refused to have dogs in the house - ever. I agree with whoever said - their house their rules.
