Is it spring where you are?

  • Today my sister and I are going shopping. In an attempt to force real spring to arrive (less rain and temperatures over 55 degrees) we are going to look for white sandals. THAT should do it.

I was brave enough to wear capri pants yesterday, but I did have some folks kind of staring at me. My way of looking at it is - as long as it doesn't rain, as long as we are in April, I wear spring clothes. I'm not the only one. I have seen people here wearing shorts in the winter. As long as there is sun in the winter, someone puts on their shorts. I wonder if that is a Canadian west coast thing.

Hope you are all seeing your crocus, daffodils and tulips. And I bet there are a lot of basenjis happily waiting for the warmer weather too!

  • After weeks of cold rain, spring is now here in Missouri. Filled my hot tub yesterday and filled the goldfish pond for the dogs today. We had no sooner stopped adding water and turned on the pump, than our black whippet Annie jumped in and started doing her alligator rolls. The boys look on in interest. Scotti is anxiously awaiting her splash in the pond.

  • Houston

    YES..Houston has spring everywhere..today 77 degrees and sunny..wow.
My 4 dogs and now 1 foster are living outside..I can barely get them to come in and cool off…

  • It's 7 degrees here (about 45 fahrenheit) and the sun is shining! It makes me a little sad that 7 degrees = spring here but all the snow is almost gone. 🙂

  • First Basenji's

It's spring here… it's spring for about 10 months out of the year where I live! It's one reason I opted to come out here for grad school, heh heh heh.

Lisa, I like the picture of your whippets. Another breed I really admire.

I think we skipped spring here and went straight into summer… it is 90+ degrees today. Cody is loving it! He's been helping/hindering my mom with her garden today, although he came in about 30 minutes ago (when I got home) to cool off.

  • I'm envious of the 70 - 90 degree weather. We can barely break 55 degrees (about 11 degrees celcius) here. Crystalncody, sooo envious of you in your garden. Between the coolness, rain and sporadic torrential winds it just isn't nice to venture out there other than for walking. This year I want to put down some landscape fabric and medium sized bark mulch. The weeding was too time consuming last year. For annual flowers, I will stick to putting them into huge pots that I can manage better. Can't wait to use my handheld power trimmer - a Christmas present. It's got an 18 inch saw on it and will be nice for shaping things. Once I get the garden done up I'll post a picture. Once we get a few dry days I also have to paint the light at the front of our home. Ours looks the worse in the cul-de-sac (they are all the same). The winters here are tough on things, though I suspect others have it worse.

Kipawa, we actually keep half of our garden in huge pots because the weather is so fickle here. Sometimes we have to move them into the garage or inside the house. It's just a little hard to do that with some of it though, like corn, potatoes, collards, etc, just because of the amount of it they grow (I'm not allowed to help with the garden because I have a brown thumb and everything I touch dies 😞 ). We always say that if you don't like the weather in North Carolina, wait 3 days, it will change, lol. Very true… this winter, it snowed once, and 2 days later it was warm.

  • Spring has come to central Ohio. We've been 75-80 degrees for almost a week. We almost always get a snow storm of some type in April so I am waiting for the other shoe to drop. I have been enjoying taking long walks with Cody. I am not sure who is more worn out after the walks me or him. 🙂

  • The UK is getting there 😉
In Preston it's still a bit cold but we have had a few sunny days over Easter, spring flowers are about and leaves returning to the trees. Some parts of the country and Scotland have had snow .
