Made up our minds

Off Topic

  • I found my old post but I think it's too big to update that :)

We made up our mind about the place for our Ostrich farm!

After lots of land-searching we ended up with our very first choice!!
    Germany :D

We're sailing there so much, stay over for the weekends and we celebrate our hollidays here (all with our ship of course)
We fell in love a few years ago and our love is really strong after all.. :D

A short time ago we started our work and research.
We connected with the German Ostrich association, did a lot of search about the place we want to live (in combination with the farm)
We already knew a lot about Ostriches but now we learn about the breeding and the different products.
We're going back to school also, you need to follow a seminare before you can start a farm here in Germany.
We check out internet for farms on sale so we know how and what to buy when time is there.

People keep asking us about the ship, I don't know why but it's great.
We put it on sale just to see if there is anyone interested an if there was we were going to look further..
It's the economical crisis here, so we did not think there would be much people interested now..
But there are, two people are on the waiting list (for visit us and look at the ship)
And there is one couple that talked with their investor already (about our ship) and said they have to see our ship so they can talk buisness.. :D

We are very happy, we realized our passion for animals is too big too ignore that for the first couple of years..
The feeling that we miss someting big in our lives became more and more reality the last year..
We just need a job into animals..

We can't wait to have a Ostrich farm with some horses and our dogs playing in the mud :D

  • That's great! We all wish you the best of luck with your adventure Kim! Keep us updated on how it's going.

  • That's great! I hope you can achieve your dreams in 2010!

It's funny.. There is a professor in Utrecht and she lives part of the year in South Africa with family of her and they also have an Ostrich farm. First thing she said when she started her collage was: If you ever want to visit, you're all welcome in Africa.. gg.. But you do have to help on the farm :D

  • Best wishes on your new adventure!

  • How exciting for you! What a big change in your lives; is Kas ready to be land-bound? You will probably still keep a boat so you can go sailing just to have fun.

    Terry

  • I wish you both the best and hope one of the two looking at your ship will say we want it and buy it. Sounds like all of you are going to have a great time having a farm and feet on land all the time. I like Germany never been there but my father's side is from Germany they all came over way back when things were so bad in Germany. Was funny when I would vist my great grandparents house you did not speak Germany in there house and if you did they would always say how did you learn that trash. Now my brother-in-law was teaching German at college in Alabama now he's head dog as we say at college.

  • That's great you found the place :). Do you already know in which part in Germany it will be?

You can take Tillo with you!!! :D
The people from one Ostrich farm in Germany have a Ostrich farm in Africa too! :D

He is sailing from a fifteen year old, so he won't have much trouble living on land :D
The both of us do have issues sometimes, when we are on land we sometimes think we "move" a bit (with a ship you always move a little bit…)

Germany is doing much better now, but you still can see the results of the bad times. Many older people still search every trash bin they see.. (look for usefull material, especially around the places were ships stay the night)
It's weird to see people with expensive bikes looking at trash

    Yes!!!
We hope to end up around Porta westfalica (Nordrhein-Westfalen)
You can enter "porta westfalica" at google, then you can see some pics!

  • I look forward to seeing the boys chasing Ostich's and by boy's I mean Ryan also. Can hardly wait.

  • I loved Germany while I was there. I lived in Baden-Wurtemburg in the town of Schwaebisch Hall and then in Bayern in the town of Lengfeld just outside Wurzburg. There is no better place on earth to have a young baby.

It is well known that made in USA pretty meaningless. Always look for SOURCE. These days, if it doesn't SAY USA source meat, you can pretty much BET it is not. While most use some vitamins and stuff from other countries, if at least the meat is from a safe source, I'm pretty good with it. Of course, when it is JUST CHICKEN and sourced here… fine. :) short list of USA source: http://www.usalovelist.com/natural-pet-food-and-treats-made-in-usa/ Wow, just realize truthaboutpetfood…/the-2015-list/ now CHARGES a lot for their list. Um, no. This is pretty good http://dogaware.com/diet/dryfood.html Colorado Natural only sources usa I am pretty sure. And I love Salmonears. http://www.salmonears.com/dogs.html They are my go too healthy treats. Have known the owner for about 20 years, he taught me more about training, health, nutrition and raw than anyone in my life. No I don't get a discount if you try them, but you can say Deb sent you so he knows. For crunchy and good omega, they are my dogs favorites :) LOL bears like them too: https://youtu.be/CH6mKLs9xm0
