    @imbj - Thanks for posting this... any treatments for this in dogs is great and great that there is ongoing research ongoing for all cancer in dogs and humans too!

So, your dog/cat dies from the collar and Congress sets a price on that loss equivalent to the price of the collar? Which is what? $20-30 (USD)? Clearly, our Congressional members are not dog lovers!

    @sharronhurlbut: That is because Therese has just love dogs and you picked the right breeder and pup! Did your homework and see how you got "lucky"!!! True, true. I know someone mentioned in a thread something to the effect that they were hoping their b would stop being so clingy. I, on the other hand, love how Kipawa wants to be wherever I am. He will wake up from a dead sleep to follow me into another room. He really does not like me to be out of his sight, and I love that, because when I am out with him at an offleash park, he is the same. He always wants to know where I am. Regarding "luck"… well, I think it was just meant to happen. Kipawa and I bonded instantly. His little sisters were more interested in Darrel in his wheelchair, but Kipawa had to snuggle with me on the couch and put his snoot in my hair. I will never, ever forget that.

    I find it disturbing that the author has such little value for life and would write an article defending abuse. No living thing should be beaten and tortured and a person who values life so little that they would do so does represent a possible harm to humans. A person who is willing to justify such behavior because "it was only property" is also scary. His comparison to deer hunting is highly flawed since it is not the hunter's intent to cause pain and torture, they strive for a clean kill and the purpose is to increase the health of the population by decreasing numbers to what the land can support since there are no longer enough natural predators to do the job. People who torture and abuse wildlife are just as wrong as those who do it to domesticated animals. The absolute worst thing about this article though is that the editor of the paper thought that it was an appropriate "sports" article. That is the section of the paper that it was published in.
