I used Wisdom Panel for my assumed Basenji mix. It showed no basenji at all. My boy is 32 lbs and short hair. His DNA says he is 25% American Eskimo 12.5% Boston Terrier 12.5% Chow Chow 12.5% German Shepherd 12.5% Miniature Schnauzer 25% Breed Group-Sporting, Herding, Hound, Terrier. Having owned basenjis all my life I would say my boy has basenji in him by his personality and behavior regardless of what his dna says!!
Dog park for the last time…together

Today was a bitter sweet day in our home. Dotty went to her new home, a great home with a few acres to run, a young boy to play with and a family that will adore her…
So we met with her family at the dog park, so Dotty and Otis could play for one last time, several other basenjis came along as well, it was a great day..Otis getting sniffed in the "not so private" parts, by Shadow, a b mix
Dotty and Otis running the fence line, seeing if there is a way out of here..lol.
Sweet Moe, a foster for one of our friends..his sister Kiz, never wanted to be in a picture..
..and my last hug with sweet Dotty…
She will be missed, but knowing she will be happy is all that matters..

Great news for Dotty Petra, what a good job you have done.
I love the pics, in the first one Otis looks a bit put out -
Looks like you all had a good time.
It's great that she has a loving new forever-home to go to. x -
So nice had a good last day and went so well ever better that Dotty has her home and with a little boy. Good job.

Great job Petra! Thanks for those pics.
-
You have set her life on a happy path. She will never forget you for that.
Cheers!
-
Great job Petra (and wonderful pictures…I love the reflection in your sun glasses! Bitter sweet picture; her looking into the future, and also her reflected back at you)
Go ahead and cry tears of happiness for your Dotty, Petra. You did well for her.
Hugs to you and Otis.

A toast to Otis too for being a good sport, trying to be tolerant and allowing the fosters in his home.
-
We are happy to have helped her in her journey to a deserving home..she will be so very happy at their house..I hope they will join the forum, I did of course tell them all about it…
Thanks for the nice comments..
Otis' price for being a good sport, another day on the 600+ acre area with cows, bunnies and birds....oh happy dog.. -
The last pic of you and her makes me crying a bit…
Now a wonderful and happy live is waiting for her! Thanks to you
"Bitter sweet" is the right word for it!
-
Thank you, bitter sweet it is..of course not even 24 hours had past before I emailed and asked how things were going..so far things were great..she even slept like a baby.
-
You done good girl!
-
Well, thank you..
-
Yes - I think, they can deal with new situations very well!
Thabo and me are at my parents home for 2 till 3 days (because of Zuris season) and it seems to not matter at him.
He is eating, playing and sleeping like always. Everything's fine for him -
Great pictures.. always hard to give up a foster…
I'm sure she gets a very nice home!
-
I hope Dotty settles into her new home quickly, it sounds perfect. Thank goodness there are people like you who take these poor dogs in, it must be so hard to let them go, I hope they keep in touch with you.
-
Hugs to you – if you ever meet up with Dotty again she'll for sure remember you!
-
I sure hopes she remembers us, we will see if we can maybe meet at the dogpark, although we are about 1+ hours away, both of us..it would make for a good trip.
Otis and Dotty ended up becoming real good friends and I think my pack is missing her..she did put a spin on things..
I could finally put all three of my bathroom waste baskets back on the floor..;):D
