Has Mei found a new home yet?
Adult female available in Georgia

If Jozie is as sweet as her brother, Jayden, and her "cousin"(??) Cory, she will be a wonderful addition to someone's home!! And I must say….as cute as the little puppies are, it is really nice to get one that is already housebroken, etc!!!
Is it at all possible that the tension between Bindi and Jozie might be due to Bindi's recent motherhood status and perhaps just temporary?
Pat
Speaking from experience, the answer would be no…. usually (99%) when something happens like this with two bitches, it is not fixable.....

The tension started in October when the girls came in season. When I left Bindi with the stud owner for a week to be bred, I knew that may be the end of their friendship. Hormones were too high so I kept them completely apart until they were out of season. I was able to get them back together then but there was posturing and snarking and a general feeling of uneasiness. When Bindi was getting close to her due date, dog fights started breaking out. (I now wonder if the other girls sensed the dead puppies in Bindi and were responding to that.) I separated Bindi from the others and have kept her completely separate from the girls since. (I do let her socialize with Baron.) Bindi is still highly protective of her puppy and even chases Baron away from the puppy pen. There is no way she would tolerate the girls while this puppy is still in the house. I may be able to get them back together once Ayla goes to her new home but the tension will remain. It is unhealthy for dogs to live under constant stress and kinder to place one in a new home. This was not an easy decision but I do what is best for the dogs.

That's too bad. I know you love and care for your dogs and it has been a difficult decision for you to make. Jozie will be a wonderful addition to someone's family. Maybe someone out there has a male who wants a playmate. Once we made it through the difficult "getting to know each other" period, we have really been glad we decided to have 2 basenjis.

Are your dogs part of the Windjammer crowd?

Are your dogs part of the Windjammer crowd?
No, though Jozie's grandsire is Ch. Windsong's The Wanderer aka "Hawk". Hawk can be found behind some of the Windjammer dogs.

My little girl, Lexi, is a Windjammer girl… straight from Phoenix City/Columbus.

Hi Robyn -
I have recently started looking for a Basenji for our home. I was wondering if Jozie still needs a good home? I live with my boyfriend Steven in Brookhaven - just North of Buckhead. We currently have no pets. It breaks my heart because Steven has never had a pet and he is one of the biggest animal lovers I know. We both feel that a Basenji would be a wonderful pet to have.
We live in a large 1940's community with mature trees & plenty of squirels. Would Jozie's instinct to chase come on too strong for a 29 year old slender female to handle? I enjoy walks each evening that last about 4.5 miles. I think a basenji would really enjoy that kind of daily adventure!
Let me know if Jozie still needs a home. We would want to meet first of course!

I am sure Robyn will answer your question. I just wanted to encourage you to introduce yourself in the Member Introduction section.

I think that issues between Jozie and another of Robyn's basenjis have mellowed out considerably. That was a big of her wanting to place Jozie, I think.
If you check on Robyn's website she gives a reference to Lothlorien basenjis on her puppies page. I believe that a female r/w is still available, but the brindle has been placed. -
Yeah, experience says once mad, always mad. Which is why I want a puppy, not adult. I am not sure if show pup or rescue yet. Ideally want someone to give me a pup, agree to finish it, no breeding, lol. I just know I want another basenji.

Welcome Kelly. Please keep reading and posting. You'll find good advice and links to information concerning adopting one of these BRATS. They're wonderful, but a handful. BE PREPARED!!!!

Hi Kelly. At this point in time Jozie is not available. I will be having a litter of puppies at the end of this year however so if you are interested just let me know and I will be happy to talk to you.
EDIT: Jozie is available again as of January 31, 2010

Hello GA neighbors. I'm in Blairsville and have three Basenjis. Most people in the mountains haven't a clue what a Basenji is. My girls have had issues since the male B moved in a few weeks ago - jealousy?

Hi there I saw your post and was just about to post my sweet basenji whpm I desperately need to find a new home! we are in lawrenceville. My 3yr old was diagnosed with autism and since then it has been a mad house with therapies and appointments a little to know attention to give to my basenji. And if you know basenjis he is not happy about it. when I open the door he runs all through my subdivision and with a autistic toddler who also is a runner it has become to difficult to chase and walk with both and its not fair at all. Whne therapist come to the house his is protective of my 3yr old so tries to dominate the therapist! I am a stay at home mom and dread having to part with him but my sanity is at stake. I have been told by many therapist that I have to give him up becuase Im by myslef all the time with him and two children but I just couldnt but now I feel I must. AJ is 2 yrs old and a joy sometimes I wish it was just he and I ! I can send pics if interested!
