4 year old brindle spayed female available

Basenjis For Sale or Wanted
  • Ginger is a brindle and white spayed female. She is very sweet, with the prettiest face.

Ginger is best for an only dog home or with a VERY mellow adult male. She did well with her own male Basenji in her original home, but does not like female dogs at all. She tends to challenge assertive male dogs, which is why she is being rehomed.

Ginger is excellent with adult humans once she settles in - she is reserved at first, then quietly affectionate and loving.

Ginger was not raised around kids but should be okay with older, respectful, well-behaved kids. She was good with this family's teenager, for example.

Ginger is crate trained and walks well on a leash.

Ginger is located in Virginia. I would consider homes outside of Virginia if you're willing to pick her up (I will not ship) - so basically we're willing to look at homes in the mid-Atlantic region, mid-South in addition to Virginia/Maryland/DC/North Carolina - or even further if you're willing to drive to get her.

There is an interview process involved and an application to fill out.

Ginger had been placed but is going to be returned b/c of fusses with the family's Rottweiler. Her previous adopted family noted that she was doing very well otherwise and was extremely adoptable.

Ginger is spayed and is current on all shots and on heartworm preventative.

Please contact Lisa at itzyu@prodigy.net or at 804 387 2640 if you are interested in Ginger.

    Thank you,
    Lisa

@zande and Jengosmonkey... I did send an email and asked about this pup, never got a response... most likely because I asked about health testing and pedigree... or that they did sell the pup. And Zande, you are correct.... across the pond, they are called puppy farmers...here puppy mills and/or back yard breeders (in it for the money)

Go to www.basenji.org and you can search by state... however know that this time of your if you are looking for a pup it will be difficult because most all pups are born in Nov/Dec/Jan as Basenjis only come in season once a year and this is when most all pups are born. And you might have to travel further than those states. You might be looking at next breeding season, so now is the time to contact breeders about their breeding plans for 2020. And also don't get hung up on color or sex...

@naz-roseberry I think it will work out well with Cutlers "Grandma & Grandpa" lol. I think that the move to a new neighborhood with 10 times the kids upset Cutler bcoz it was 10 times more noise than he was used to. Plus, I think some kids teased Cutler when you weren't right there with him & it was just too much for him noise wise & the teasing just flat pissed him off! At least Cutler is still in the family! He knows the people he's going to live with & he'll be able to see his before family when you all go to visit! I couldn't imagine how hard it would be to have to put him down just because he wasn't able to adjust to the new neighborhood. I'm really happy that you don't have to go thru that too. Hopefully, all's well that ends well ~ right? Take Care! Nancy Berry

It depends on the people. I do feel Jozie would be more comfortable with a calm home rather than a boisterous one. I would be very happy to talk to your parents about her and see if it may be a possible match.
