Just wanted to follow up. We are no longer looking because we adopted a 5 yo female B from BRAT last week. Her name is Sharma. I am posting info on the introductions forum. Deb

Introducing Sharma
Hi, everyone! I am thrilled to announce the addition of Sharma to our family. We adopted Sharma from BRAT last Friday. She is a (appx) 5 year old R/W. Not a lot is known about her background. BRAT rescued her from a kill shelter in Texas. She was surrendered, but the people surrendering her refused to provide any information about her, even her name. She was fostered by a wonderful BRAT volunteer for the last few months. She is very sweet and we are both very attached to her already.
There have been a few rough patches (nothing serious) with our other B, Esau, but I remain optimistic they will work it out. He is basically claiming every good spot in the house as "his" and has been trying to lay claim to both of us, as well. We've been working on that with some success, but the bed is the biggest sticky point. I'll post in the appropriate forum for help on that. We are also having some house training issues. Sharma used a doggy door at the foster's home, but we don't have one do not want to get one for a variety of reasons. I think Sharma is not used to being able to pee whenever she wants. I'll post for help in the appropriate forum on this issue, as well. I'll attach pictures of her in a separate post.

RE: 5 y/o red & white female - need to rehome
It's been quite awhile since i have posted on this forum and it makes me sad to have to come back and post something like this. I'm looking to rehome my B. I have found myself overly busy with a graduate degree, internship, and working two jobs and really don't have time for her. My mom has been a big help but it's not fair to burden her anymore. She's dealing with my grandmother who has dementia and my brother who's an addict. I won't let her go to just anyone and she's pretty unique. She hates being crated (although she is during the day) She sleeps in bed with me when I'm home. She is a lap dog in very sense of the word. She's fine with cars but is iffy with other dogs until she gets used to them. Kids don't seem to bother her but I haven't seen her around many. I'm not looking for money, I just want her to go somewhere where she is cared for. If anyone seems interested, please let me know.
Hi. I hope this doesn't end up being a duplicate post, as I tried to reply to you last night, but it hasn't appeared yet. I'm new to the forum and am having trouble learning how it works! Anyway, I am looking for an adult female B to be a companion for our 5 y.o. Neutered male B. We are in KS, so the distance may be a problem, but I'd like to get more info from you about your girl. I have not been able to figure out how to send a private message, so if you know how to send me one, please do! Otherwise, please reply on the forum. Thanks!

We are looking for an adult female to be a companion for our 5 y.o. male B. I'm new to the list and can't figure out how to email or message you directly, but I'd like to get more info about your dog. We're in KS, so the distance is a problem, but may be something we can deal with if all else is right. Can you email or private message me? Deb

New to the forum - hello!
Hi, everyone! Although I've had Basenjis for over 20 years, I never knew about this forum. What a great find! I came across it as I was searching the Internet for a new Basenji. We've had 4 over the years. We got our first, Memphis, as a puppy in 1992. He was a red and white and he lived to 14. We got Annie, a red and white, in 1996. She was 5 when we got her and she lived to age 15. Trey, a black and white, come into our lives in 1997. He was found as a stray. Assuming he was about 1 year old when we got him, he lived to 15. We got Esau, a red and white, in 2008. He will be 5 tomorrow. We also had a black lab mix, Sadie, who we adopted from the shelter in 2008. Sadie passed away from cancer last week and now Esau is all alone. We hope to find an adult female Basenji to join our home!

Looking for adult female Basenji
We are looking for an adult female, preferably 1 to 6 years old. We have a 5 y.o. male basenji and we recently lost his lab-mix companion to cancer. He would love to have a girl B to play with. We live in NE Kansas, but are willing to travel for the right dog. Because we have a parrot, we need a dog who is not predatory of birds. We have contacted BRAT and would love to adopt a Basenji through them, but want to cast as wide a net as possible.
