• I bought Jack a stuffed toy ('built tough' package said "will stand up to any dog" yeah, right…..) It is an elephant and has a rattle and a squeaky bit in it, and he is presently "killing" it.

So, as he is pulling all of the stuffing out of it and spitting it everywhere (which is far, far better than him pulling the stuffing out of my couch cushions) he isn't eating any of it, this fiber fill is okay for him, right?

Obviously, I am sitting right here and supervising him so I can make sure he doesn't swallow the rattle or the squeaky bit, and would probably not let him have it unsupervised (at least not at the rate he is tearing it apart....I would have no desire to come home from work and have to clean that whole mess up)

  • It depends on what the guts are made of and whether or not Jack swallows significant amounts. Usually my beastie just rips the guts out and throws it away but the squeakie he tries to eat so I always take that away. There's stuffing all over the living room (=EL D's playroom) but he never eats any of it.

  • Yeah- Jack wasn't eating any of it….he even spit out the squeaker. I took it away after a little while because I was tired of picking up fuzz. That's what I thought, though- thanks for the confirmation!

  • It's a hassle picking up the fuzz - but Duke and Daisy have so much fun doing it. When enough fuzz is de-stuffed, I will reach in and grab the squeaker. After the toy is completely de-stuffed, they have fun for a few weeks with the remains. They tug, chew and toss it around. So I think for them, once it's been de-stuffed the real fun begins … the toy is just right.

  • Jack was having so much fun de-stuffing it, too! It has one of those shakers in it, so when you shake it it makes a squeaking noise, so he was shaking it like crazy! He looked so sad when I put it away for a little while. I'll probably give it back to him tonight while I pack for the move…

BTW- how are your moving plans going? Do you think the barrier will work in your car?

That would be Phoenix3 that's moving…but is your new house all ready for you? When's your big moving day? 🙂

  • oops- sorry- I got mixed up with the two avatars. :o

  • Although Magnum has de-stuffed a few stuffies. He's really not interested in most. Haven't figured out what draws him to one and not another.

However, he loves, Loves, LOVES getting the twist cap off of containers (milk bottles, pop bottles, etc.) Once he gets them off, he loses interest in both the cap and the container. Yeah, he's kinda weird that way.

'Course, since he seems to consider this a challenge, we let him have at it and just pick up after he has "bested the bottle." He has NEVER lost a battle, no matter how tightly we put the cap on. It never takes him more than a minute or two to walk away the victor of a cap battle! 😃 😃

  • Mickii opens tin cans, regardless of the size.. I have big ones for the dry dog food and she uses her K9's to get under the lid rim and flip off the top… she uses her body to block the can up against the wall. For little tin cans, she wraps her front "hand" paws around the can and uses her K9 to flip the lid....

  • I think it was Mirtillo that there was a video of playing with coke bottles…Jack got one down off the counter the other day and I started to let him keep it.....but then I thought better. I don't want him to think that if he gets something off of the counter I will let him keep it. Plus, there are lots of bottles I would rather he not get into (Finlandia, Jack Daniels, Jameson's). I think I will start letting him play with those (empty plastic bottles). They are the cheapest toy ever!

Duke- I'm really embarrassed that I got you and Phoenix mixed up- really sorry....things are going well, though, hanks for asking. Jack hasn't been able to come down lately because we have been sanding and painting, and we didn't want for him to a) breathe in nasty fumes and sawdust and things that are bad or b) get a lovely little noseprint in the middle of a freshly painted wall! LOL! Moving day is May 24th. Jack is going to stay at a friend's house, to avoid the trauma of him having to see us move all of his things out of the apartment.
