Basenji like rare breed dogs

Anyone familar with Telomiun & New Guinia Singing dogs. The singing dogs are really cute. The Telomiuns are the spitting image of basenji's. Reading about them, they seem like the same as basenji's in character.

Interesting dogs. Their faces look a bit like Akitas to me.

Yep, the Telomian project here in the states was centered at Bowling Green University just south of us. We run into quite a few people that had dogs placed with them; they say there were something else as far as 'wildness'. I just recently talked about it with a vet/client that I have, she had one ANCIENT one in her practice a few years ago.

Yes, Akita, Chows, very much square faced dogs!

There was a show on TV about these…we were convinced they had to be related to basenjis...except no curly tail 😞

To me they look like a basenji/shiba inu mix. Very similar to basenjis though especially since they're very much like wild dogs.

NGSD are pretty cool dogs, I know a B owners that has gotten involved with them pretty heavily

Not as cute as the Basenji 😉

Hello. Does anyone knows about the way to adopt a NGSD. I'm interested in this breed for som years, but in france there's nearly nothing about it. I read about on a blog but the NGSD was deceased at the age of seven and the owner mail me that he has found his dog in new guinea and back in france with the puppy hidden in his bag. The only clue about NGSD in france.

It looks like they have a longer coat too

that's funky… My Basenji mix looks like that Telomian. She looks like a Basenji for the most part, but is more muscular, has a boxier head and her tail doesn't curl. There's no way my dog would be one of those since they're so rare, but that's weird seeing a dog like that. 🙂 I've heard of the Singing Dogs before, there was a rescue here that had one awhile back.

sSo…..Do they sing? I tried to find a sample on the web site but didn't see one.

They make weird howling noises…

As far as adopting a NGSD, here in the states, first priority on any born goes to zoos/research facilities. Our vet is on the list to get one this year - they think her odds are good that one may be available. Like Basenjis, they only go into season once a year… She's anxiously awaiting news.

Great video and very interesting animals.

Only a 100 animals in the US

Sounds like a recipe for genic flaws to come out
