Ewww. I have gotten those kind of surprises too, with my cats. They have given up on rats because they have gotten very sick from eating them, but birds seem to be fair game. And like what Hope did, it always seems the head and legs are left. I guess the middle parts are juicy. Now, that is a great way to get your Hope used to having her teeth brushed. :) Just leave a few tooth brushes out around the house. By the time you really want to get into a teeth cleaning routine, she will love it!

There's something invigorating about cold snow on little basenji toesies! My Abbey loved all the snow we had last winter (unusual for us) but she was terrified of the neighbors' snow man!!

The last couple of days the highs have been below zero (yesterday and this morning it was -14F/-26C when I let EL D out to go potty with two coats on). Yesterday in the early afternoon he whined and whined to go for a walk and I wasn't going to go but in the end said okay. Put his and my coats on and made it down the driveway and to the mailbox and he was pulling hard to turn around and get back in the house. He learned his lesson I guess - no more whining the rest of the day! :)

It all depends on how she was "down" for example a "crouching down" wit her body very low to the ground from head to tail & focusing on the other dog then I would say definitely pouncing position…but this could be puncing for play. My girl does this very often when she plays. If it's just down with her head up end front elbows on the ground then I would think she's just trying to send a signal...hey I don't mean any harm & I'm cool & calm :) part of their doggy language.
