Oh, I hope this is true! Happy endings are the best.
Lost basenji Knoxville, Tennessee
-
Thursday Sep 8 @ 5:00pm our foster basenji Tegres escaped out of the garage in the cedar bluff area near bob gray road. He is a 2.5 year old brindle/white neutered male. He has a black collar with white polka dots. He didn't come with tags and had not received his tags from the rescue yet and we do not know if he is microchipped. He is a very sweet boy but may get snappy if youtry to grab at him. Anyone who is in the area please keep an eye out. We have driven around, posted flyers, put flyers in mailboxes, talked to kids at the busstop, talked to the garbage men, posted on fb, craigslist, and linkedin. I called the emergency vets and am working on the local vet clinics as well. Our shleter requires that you come to the shelter to look for your stray so I'll be checking there after work. Please crosspost this to any lists you may be on!

Hope you find him soon, must be dreadful not knowing where he is.

I have friends in Knoxville but please give me an email for them to contact you!

Unfortunately we did not get the outcome we wanted. A neighbor called me today and recognized Tegres on the side of a busy highway. He had been hit by a vehicle at some point this morning. The only consolation we have is that it looks like he probably died instantly. My husband and I are completely heart broken over this as we treat our fosters like our own babies.

I am so sorry.

I am SO very sorry for your loss… even though Tegres was only with you for a short time, you were able to shower him with hope and love....
I understand your heart-break, as I lost my Zeba last Friday. She escaped from her collar while she was getting out of our SUV to go to PetSmart daycare, and then thought that everyone was playing tag with her... she ran out into the busy morning rush hour traffic and was struck. Despite the fact that medical care was immediately available, Zeba was killed immediately.
Like you, Zeba was my baby, and even writing about this a week later still brings me to tears... I hope that Tegres was warmly welcomed by Zeba at the Rainbow Bridge, and that the two of them are scaring the chickens to death.
Hugs and roos to you….

What sad, sad news from you both, achandl2 and Patty. I'm chilled to hear two such similar stories happening back-to-back. May you both heal in time…
-
I am so, so sorry for both of your losses :*(
-
I feel for both of you. It is always hard to lose a dog, but this is one of the worst ways. I am so sorry, and I know the pain you must be feeling.
-
Things like this can happen so quickly, just in the blink of an eye. I'm so sad to read about both of these basenjis. My heart breaks for you.
-
This is such sad news - my heart goes out to you. Even on the days when they are a test of our patience, the thought of losing our B's is unthinkable. You have the knowledge that they knew love and good care before they crossed to the Rainbow Bridge.
-
My heart aches for both of you, this is a sudden and terrible way to lose a beloved dog. Hugs.
-
I am so sorry to hear that Tegres was found dead. This is heartbreaking.

When I sent my post, I had not read that Zeba has also crossed the bridge. My condolences on both basenjis.

Oh no, what devastation for both of you. I'm really, really sorry to hear this. I know from many years of having Basenjis that some are so fast to escape.
-
Thinking of you both at this very sad time…
-
How terribly sad for all involved…I'm so sorry.
-
Please ignore - this is just a test.
