My adorable Kipawa

  • What a mucky boy he is!! Fab pictures :D

  • I LOVE the last one where he's sleeping. That must have been quite an adventure for him - he's so tuckered out! Beautiful boy!

  • Great photos of a handsome little guy! I have a mud basenji too, I call my little Ono-monster 'pig-pen.' I swear she could find mud in a desert. She would have a ball with Kipawa.

  • If you all find the post of C-Me and the picture of her after chasing the ducks into the water, becoming soaked… and then being rolled in the dirt... again there is another example of "not reading the standard".... ggg

  • cute wrinkly forehead!!

  • First Basenji's

He's such a fearless adventure-hound… and a little dirty one, at that! ;)

Maybe it's all the evil influence of that Welsh Terrier/Airedale! Hehe. (Actually, I really like those dogs.)

  • @deschroedter:

How does he feel about the clean up bath?

Well, I think that in his mind, the aggravation of the bath is worth the unabashed play. That day, he went into the shower with me …. muahahahahaha!

  • Love the black feet! Makes him look like a fox.:)

  • He is beautiful…love the pic of him sitting there all muddy and cute :)

  • Great pictures, Fran!

I have a feeling Blaze may be another one of those non-standard Basenjis when it comes to getting wet/dirty. He isn't bothered by rain and I've seen him walk through puddles of water (both of which Maxx avoided like the plague). It'll be interesting to see his reaction to the ocean when we take him to the Washington State coast later this summer.

Yes, I think some basenjis just go by the fact they are 'dogs', and will get into anything.

Oh… love the Washington coast... very similar to our coast here. The first time Kipawa experienced the ocean, he was trying to catch the waves. Of course he also tried drinking the salty ocean, and was not happy with the taste. He shook his head side to side, really fast. Then he looked at me with a look that kind of said "hey, what's going on? Someone ruined my water"!

You'll have a great time. Remember to bring a camera and take lots of pics. :)

  • Okay, I may be biased but my non biased opinion is HE's Adorable. Hugs to Kipawa! Love the mud photos.

  • Hello Fran! Kipawa looks great…what a happy boy. Scarlett is doing well...she graduated from obedience class and now she is going into heat! AHHHH!:)

Congrats on Scarlett's graduation! Are you planning more obedience classes? We are, simply because they are great for Kipawa's mind - they really tire him out.

Yes, our basenjis are maturing. We got a call from our vet yesterday reminding us that Kipawa needs to be neutered. Once again, we mentioned that we are looking at another 2 - 4 months. When are you planning to spay Scarlett?

Let Scarlett know that her brother looks forward to seeing her in the future!

  • I would like to send her to more classes but planned to postpone it due to the fact I was expecting her to be close to her first cycle…not this close were my hopes!

We look forward to seeing Kipawa as well, a lot has changed since he slept on our laps so many months ago!

  • I loved the pictures so much!

He is so cute, he would love our Chaffie… getting wet together!

  • Houston

I adore him..he is so pretty..looks to live life grand too.

Ohhh! Would so love to take a trip to Holland, visit where my Dad grew up, then meet up with you, Janneke and all the Nederland basenjis!

Thank you for sharing- you have a beautiful, basenji-enriched life! Isn't it amazing how tall they can stretch to when they want to see what's on the counter? Hugs and Roos-:)

I give all the credit regarding Kipawa's mellowness to our breeders Therese and Kevin (FoPaw's Basenjis). They obviously did so much work in exposing Kipawa to a number of sounds and experiences. The carwash experience was really interesting. I thought he would be scared of it, but instead he seemed really curious. He especially loved the pink, green and yellow foam bubbles against the windows. Maybe he could pick up that I like them too? :)
