Basenjis sleep in the strangest positions

  • Great pictures they do sleep strange I wonder sometimes if there neck hurts when they wake up. Your correct how many legs do you see? My kids say "let it all hang out" when they sleep on back with belly out in the open.

  • Ella almost always sleeps curled up in a tight light ball, which we call a "button." We always remark on how flexible she is and joke about how we are going to start sleeping with our chins tucked behind our shins, or our noses behind our knees. I don't know if she is sore when she wakes up, but she must be stiff because she does a back-arching compression stretch and a full-body-all-four-limbs-at-once stretch when she wakes up.

That's the same thing Kananga does. He almost always sleeps that way. The stretching is entertaining for some reason.

  • I love watching them stretch when they wake up… in fact I wish I could stretch like they do...

  • When Otis does a downward dog he puts most avid yoga doers to shame, or so it looks..I so wish I had that flexibilty.

  • Haha! Funny stuff. Sometimes Denver feels the need to tromp all over Trinity….

Isn't that the truth! My Bs roll over and over on the floor, then scoot along on their tummy on the carpet, and stretch so big.

  • I call Congo my Yoga dog because he will sleep in the recliner on his head-I will post a picture of it sometime and I agree on the the downward dog thing. I wish I could do that!

  • So do Akitas. This is Mishka, our 95-pound, 18-months old baby:

    And here's our Lana:

  • Those are so cute and confy too. The last pic is hilarious..

@creambasenji Please start a new topic/thread in Member Introductions when you upload an image of your "cream" basenji. That way, more people will see it. (thanks!)

She is really cute though I don't see Basenji. Like Shirley said, only a DNA can tell you much for certain.

You had me confused and then I realized you meant the write up on the other rescue (Okapi)… I like less white also. So I had to go look... wow, coloring reminds me of minpins. :) Cute dog though.

I agree with the others that although he seems to have Basenji in him - his head is def. not Basenji. As for the leg I'd have it amputated if it troubles him - He'll cope with 3 legs I'm sure, but certainly consult a specialist first. Please keep us updated.

After striking out with my first 2 B's I figured I'd give my other love a try! She is wonderful so far, potty training is kicking our butt..as with any puppy. We have only had her a week yesterday so I'm sure this is gonna be fun! She is giving us (my gf and I, our 3 cats and Sid) a run for our money! Sid is very jealous though, which is what we wanted. We need him to desire attention instead of just laying around all day long. Wish us luckkkk with the ol' man.
