@tanza:
And how sad… this is the time of year that we now see young adults up for placement because people "didn't" do their homework, purchased from on line BYB breeders that do not screen buyers or try and educate people... had no idea what a Basenji is.... or any puppy for that matter... and they grow up... not a cute little puppy any more.... figure out they have to spend time with the dog...etc..... sad.....
I was thinking the exact same thing. It is really sad and I feel so bad for the young adults.
I think of my 9mo pup and think how wonderful she is - she is such a happy pup and she's been fully house trained and crate trained for months and now she rarely mouths when playing anymore - she's grown up so much and is still such a little sweatheart (but still full of mischief - in spades :D). She brings such happiness to all of us - and I think besides her people, Ruby really misses her when she is away.
My family and I were just talking about this last night and said that the puppy experience wasn't nearly as bad as we had anticipated (or had been warned about) - but we also talked about how much work and commitment it took to make it that way. I have to say, I'd do it again - just not this year :D:D!
