Lovely story, it brought a lump to my throat as my last Basenji was called Benji. People do notice them because it sometimes seems they are a permanent fixture in the window.
Our neighbour used to see Benji sunbathing in the window and i told her he was ill, he lasted for another 18 months and we lost him last Feb. We then got Malaika and as soon as she was old enough she took up residence in Benji's place. Our neighbout didn't know we had a pup and remarked to her friend how Benji was still hanging on .
