Hello
My name is Judy & we have had Marie for 2 days now. Marie was a rescue dog, who came to Virginia via Okinawa. Apparently Marie had been running around on a military base, & living on her own before she was brought to the Rescue league.
Marie is very timid. I have found that I cannot make quick movements near her- she jumps away. But she is a very sweet girl. I hope I can make her happy. -

Welcome…we would love to see some photos.

Welcome Judy and Marie. I am happy she found you. I am sure with lots of reassurance and slow movements over time she will become less jumpy. Just let her know daily that you will not hurt her and give her lots of kisses and hugs..
We would love to see pictures of her. -

Welcome to our pack! Is this your first basenji? If so you're in for a treat! Lots of love and patience required.

Welcome. Marie is lucky to have found you. Baby steps are huge steps for rescues. Thank you for understanding this and still taking in this dog.
Okinawa, WOW!! Can you tell us more??

Welcome to the Forums… we look forward to pictures... and can't wait to hear more of the story... thanks for opening your home and heart to a Basenji in need... and that is right... baby steps are "huge" for rescues....
One thing that I have learned with shy rescues... let them come to you... don't push the issue.... and with any luck, she will be food motivated.. that will help lots... -
