Welcome Judy and Marie. I am happy she found you. I am sure with lots of reassurance and slow movements over time she will become less jumpy. Just let her know daily that you will not hurt her and give her lots of kisses and hugs..

Welcome. Marie is lucky to have found you. Baby steps are huge steps for rescues. Thank you for understanding this and still taking in this dog.

Welcome to the Forums… we look forward to pictures... and can't wait to hear more of the story... thanks for opening your home and heart to a Basenji in need... and that is right... baby steps are "huge" for rescues....
One thing that I have learned with shy rescues... let them come to you... don't push the issue.... and with any luck, she will be food motivated.. that will help lots... -

We are in Fairfax and we have always had 2 dogs, this is our first Basenji. Marie is a rescue dog from Lost Dogs and Cats Rescue Foundation.

She is gorgeous. I just love brindles..my little boy Otis is a brindle as well, very dark brindle.
