I have just been reading your first post, I am so glad it worked out so well for you and Miles, he sounds like a wonderful dog. We also have lots of silly names for our dogs, and they respond to them too!
I loved the pictures of the dogs, they look really happy together.

So today was Lexi's 8th birthday… so naturally we had a party! All her local puppals got together... she got lots of stuffed toys, cookies, and even a frosty paw. The girls baked cupcakes in her honor. We were going to do a Doggie Easter Egg Hunt, but the girls were afraid the labs would just break through the eggs and eat the plastic so we nixed it. But the dogs had a blast playing. And of course we tried for a photo shoot-- I'm sure you can't tell who's photographed all the time... ;) hahahah... Oh Lexi!! You love pictures! Enjoy!!
Can we get this together, guys?
Then suddenly Maddie stood up over Miles. Miles just sat there.
Happy Birthday PooPoo! We love you!
Later everyone enjoyed Frosty Paws!
Miles was done playing at this point and ready to come home and go to sleep. ;)
A good time was had by everyone!! :)

I am very much like you in the sense of wanting/loving to see my dogs sleep, eat and play. My husband thinks I am a loon, but I find real peace with my animals..it is not broing at all. Thank you for sharing.

So… Lexi & Miles had their yearly checkup today. We switched to a new vet since we moved and I really love the lady. She took time and was sincere with her care.
Unfortunately both Lexi & Miles had elevated kidney functions on their screenings.
Their creatinine was high and bun was on the high end of the "normal" range. I'm wondering if the food they eat has too much protein. I feed them Orijen Senior. Here's Orijen Senior's Content Analysis:
40% Protein
15% fat
6% fiber
1.3% phosThe vet recommended I put the dogs on Royal Canin LP (prescription).
Here's Royal Canin LP's Content Analysis:
11% Protein
10.5% fat
6.2% fiber
.25% phosNow... I don't know what to do. seems like that the recommended food is on the opposite extreme of the spectrum. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I'm wondering if there is some food that is not as extreme. Thoughts??
