• If you're still leaning towards a saint bernard, but it doesn't fit, try other swiss dogs, like a greater swiss mountain dog., but they're short coated.

With that many spots, I still think some sort of heeler mix.

  • check out the Llewellin setter (a strain of Eng setter) on this page:

  • Britney and Lab. or English setter and lab. The lab would make the face a bit broader giving it more of the St. look - ticking and structure looks more like setter to me but - who knows - could be 3 things or 4 … Irish R&W is a remote possibility more because they are first not as big as you think and 2nd as a reletively rare breed - they pretty much know where all of them are.

I'm sure however he loves having a home of their own. Kudo's to you!

  • He's cute, I thought Springer Spaniel mix too when I first saw the picture but I can see where you could see how he looks like a Saint Bernard in his face.

  • Whatever mix he is, he is lovely.

  • I looked up every suggestion so far in this thread, and my conclusion is: he could be anything!!! Haha. If I had an extra $300 laying around, I'd do a DNA test to satisfy my curiosity! I guess until then, he's just Coda!

By the way, he's looking for a new home. If anybody knows anybody who is looking for a dog, he's great & I highly recommend him to any home that isn't a small apartment with two resident basenjis!

This was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the dog. He looks just like one to me.

  • Here is a photo album on Another Chance for English Setters (ACES) are national English Setter rescue group.

Coda looks not too different from some of these dogs. It might be worth contacting them to see if they can help you place him.

  • The MARS Company has a DNA test called the WISDOM Panel. It does 5 generations, 120 breeds. If you really want to know. My guess would be Brittany X Dalmatian.

If I had the money, I definitely would have done that just to satisfy my curiosity! Good news though…. whatever he is, he has a home! He went to Andrew's sister, which I know is a great home for any dog! He will be an only child so he will be well cared for & spoiled! Yay!

  • Yea! I love happy endings. I have seen the DNA test for under $70 if anyone really cares. He is really pretty, whatever he is.

  • i'm so happy to hear that. and this means you'll get to see him on a regular basis, right?

Hopefully. Its a bit difficult to coordinate our schedules, but they're only about 20 minutes away. It will be nice to see him regularly… Lola is depressed that we've taken her new buddy from her! She's been moping around a bit.
