  • Lovely, thanks for sharing.

  • what a cutie pie!!!

    Anne

  • @wizard:

I messed up the other photos - here's the one I managed to salvage of the lunatic Luny (aka Tommy).

Luny is so adorably handsome! He looks very content putting claim on his bed. Congratulations taking in a new family member. :)

  • Super Dooper looking Tri!!! Just love that little Senji face!:D

  • I finally got all Luny's information and looked up his pedigree.
His registered name is Sonbar's Customized Color (from Bedlam Boogywoogy Bugle Boy and Sonbar's Brite Velvetslippers. There's 2 unknown africans only 5 generations back (through Avongara Zamee) and several from the Serengeti group. I didn't recognize any of the other recent names.

Luny (aka Tommy) is an AKC Show Champion, an AFSA Field Champion and Lure Courser of Merit, a Large Gazehound Racing Champion, the first male second basenji to be Superior Gazehound Racing Champion, and was also a Junior Oval Racer. Wow what a background - I'm humbled that he agree to come home with me.

He's also settling in more and more. Last night he jumped up on the couch to snuggle next to me and today he hardly complained when I crated him before I left for work (of course I had just tossed in the treat-filled kong). Now he's over in the corner tossing an old squeeky ball.

  • Sounds like its all going well.
I am so happy for you and for him.
    Yea!!!!!!!!

  • How super…. what a lucky fellow he is to be able to share his life with a wonderful B Mom..... sounds like a match made in heaven.... hugs....

  • Oh, he is just lovely - what a wonderful face. And like Pat said: sounds lke a match made in heaven! Lucky you - lucky Luny (cute name).

@SeattleMax: Does your dog romp around with other dogs? I wonder if those stones would come undone during puppy play? Good Lord  It wont be on at playtime!! :p It cost me a small fortune so it is strictly for special occasions (ie shows and posh outings  ). I think the thought of her playing as rough as she does with it on, or going galloping through the muddy fields would give me a heart attack :D

@hdolbow: LOL ! of courseeee!!!! when doesn't rocky make those devil noises!? i really think he is a little demon. lol One of these days I am going to have to tape the sounds she makes. It cracks me up! A little scary for other people, my mother-in-law was scared of her the first time she did it. Anymore I just tell her no and knock it off and she normally does!

@weeziesmom: I have tried chew bones to curb his chewing however he tries to take weezies and they fight over them You can teach him to leave hers alone. Make them both sit for their chew; give hers first and make him stay with you when she dashes off to chew. {helps him see that she gets one/he gets one, and also gives her a head start!} Make sure he knows you have one for him also. He must sit and make eye contact with you before he is given his treat. Once they both have a chew, make them stay in different spots. Stand between them, moving your body silently to block his attempts to get to her. If necessary, tell him "no" or "leave it". It shouldn't take long for him to learn that he gets his and she gets hers. Eventually, he will just look when you hand her the treat and will sit and stare at your face until he gets his own, then he'll run to his own spot to chew his bone.
