    Pat thats his couch now. But he does share it with us.He also gets his share of the bed at night.He never had a chance to experiance what close human contact was, he has now, and when he needs moved he is like a sack of potatos,he is limp like a wet dish towle.I think he enjoys it! I would also like to mention here that I have read a few posts about BRAT and the way things get handled at BRAT. I can tell all of you that this organization is FIRMLY commited to doing what is right for the placement of thier rescues. I know about the Fanconi syndrome and will have Baloo tested when he sees the vet.I have lived a blessed life and I have had my share of problems.I know this much life does not come with guarentees and any pet is subject to that as well.We all need to do the best we can,and when someone sees us falling short of that goal we need to ask ourselves how we can contribute a plan to correct it instead of hurling complaints at one another.We as humans all need to be heard and aknowledged for what we have to say.And we on the recieving end of a ideal or statement need to aknowledged as well, but in the end we all need to respect our own and other's point of view.

    Thank you for the BRAT related story. So many times we comment on the negatives in our lives and over look the positives. Thanks for reminding us how important those little positives can be.

    Baloo is very lucky to have found you:) and he's even luckier you found him:D Baloo found the toilet paper already:eek:? Sounds as if he feels right at home!!

    Its wonderful you have found your forever dog.
    We will be here to help with issues you might have..so please,don't wait, if you find some behaviors you find concerning.

BRAT volunteers and adopters submit photos of their basenjis and the BRAT family then votes for their favorites. The winning photos are featured on a calendar which we sell to raise money to help rescue basenjis. Many of the dogs we rescue are featured on this calendar. This year, we had more than 400 entries.     Its nice to be able to show rescue does try to reunite folks and their dogs. Most of us do try very, very hard to contact breeders, owners, anyone we can who can help us track down the former owners. Its sad that in some rescue areas, the breeders and rescue DON'T work together for the dogs. I am so very lucky. We have a great basenji breed club up in the PNW. They are smart, caring folks who only produce the dogs they are sure they have good homes for. I have only had one person in my area not take a dog back, or fail to offer to help with funds when rescue rehomes their dog. So, its a win/win for the basenjis in my area. Until we have no basenjis to rehome, I can only hope the rescue groups in other areas work to win the breeders over to helping the dogs. Course, some folks your not going to like, or be able to work with, but still, when we keep in mind its all for the dogs… Hope you all have a wonderful sun with your families and pets.

    Imo, the difference between a nip and a bite is if the skin is broken and they draw blood. Puppies and some uneducated adult dogs nip…its not something anyone wants, but imo it can be corrected. A bite, a totally diffent issue and something that should be eval. on a case by case event.
