Looking for dark brindle picture…

  • Wow, that is one dark brindle.
Myself, I think form and structure is so much more important than color…
course, I am not a breeder.
Lovely dog, no matter what the AKC says!

  • ooooohhh. I want one of the dark/liver brindles sooo bad.

  • We haven't come across many brindles that are so dark. We love it. But now Andrew wants one of the light brindles & I want a tri so we're arguing…. there's a tri up for adoption on BRAT in our area, but I haven't convinced him yet.

    Tri is certainly my favorite!

  • Mine too :) I love all the colors but i lean alittle more towards the tri :)

  • We joke that we are going to collect the whole set. We still need a light brindle, black & white, tri, trindle….....

  • @YodelDogs:

Your girl is indeed very dark but I have seen one brindle who was darker still. Solo was born to a local breeder and when I saw her a couple days after birth, finding any red in her coat was a challenge. She is indeed a brindle though the extreme width and unclear pattern of her striping is a fault as per the AKC breed standard. Both of her parents were very dark brindles.

    At 10 weeks:

    As an adult:

And a headshot, showing a glimmer of red:

That dog is BEAUTIFUL. Have you seen anymore with that coloration? I would love to have a light brindle or b/w but that would satisfy me and we could move onto a Tri or Trindle.

  • Your pup Lola is very pretty. I don't have a basenji yet, and I don't post often, but when I was looking through posts I saw pictures of a dark brindle like Lola from a member I think named WBL, don't think she has posted in awhile; she has a very handsome dark brindle male

Thanks! Those are the ones I was looking for! Appreciate the help.

  • Hmmm - I posted a baby puppy pic with puppy in a hand that was dark brindle, and I think I posted pics of Foxy and Cami and Cami is a very dark brindle so the pic was of a red and a brindle.

@McCannClan: What an adorable girl! I love those wrinkles and she actually poses for you. I cannot get my new girl to sit still long enough for that… I think Faro is a bad influence on her. Your Athena is beautiful. Hoping you have many fun filled loving days with her. Thank you! It amazes me. She always sits still or stops moving when I'm pointing my camera/phone at her. It's like she knows. Every day since I got her has been fun! @DebraDownSouth: What a cutie! In a couple, it shows the white of one eye and I was going to ask if she has a "lazy eye", but then I looked back at the baby ones… nope, just your camera angle and her looking at you a bit from side. Cara has an absolute lazy eye, btw.. so you know why I was looking! I envy you that cute baby stage. OMG wouldn't it be wonderful if you could keep them like that. Give that wrinkly face a kiss for me. Sigh. Thank you! At times it does look like she has a slight lazy eye but mostly it's the camera angle and the way her head is. Don't worry, I give her many hugs & kisses everyday! this is my favorite picture I've taken thus far. [image: IMG00470-20110329-2131.jpg]

@renaultf1: You got your collars from Around the Hounds in Canada didn't you? I recognize the first blue one and the one with the bees. That is where my b kids get their collars from as well…the owner Char is super nice and helpful. Tough to pick which ones to get as there are so many nice ones. Right ! Char is indeed a wonderful person ! These collars are very well manufactured, very nice and very strong. And the price is reasonable as they are all handmade …:)

@weeziesmom: I have tried chew bones to curb his chewing however he tries to take weezies and they fight over them You can teach him to leave hers alone. Make them both sit for their chew; give hers first and make him stay with you when she dashes off to chew. {helps him see that she gets one/he gets one, and also gives her a head start!} Make sure he knows you have one for him also. He must sit and make eye contact with you before he is given his treat. Once they both have a chew, make them stay in different spots. Stand between them, moving your body silently to block his attempts to get to her. If necessary, tell him "no" or "leave it". It shouldn't take long for him to learn that he gets his and she gets hers. Eventually, he will just look when you hand her the treat and will sit and stare at your face until he gets his own, then he'll run to his own spot to chew his bone.

Kenzie is very cute. When I first saw his face, except for color, I thought he looks like my Duke; profile and expression. Their muzzles are bit long and have the same shape. These are very nice pictures. Glad you shared - thanks. I'm sure Duke is a mix, and no dog smell with him either. A double blessing!
