It could be listed too. I just hope they aren't just re-homing the B or that is their 'story'.
Beautiful Trindle in Missouri

Meet Mac, new to BRAT (1/1/08) Very handsome boy
From BRAT
Mac is a very active, tall and sweet trindle boy (all 31 pounds) who is approximately one year old and still very much a puppy. He was rescued from an animal shelter where he passed a very comprehensive temperament test.
Mac is a very social basenji and loves playing with my grandchildren. He may get excited and use his mouth when playing, but he's gentle and does not resist when things are taken away. He is not food aggressive and he lets us touch him all over.
Mac sleeps in his crate because his foster sister won't allow him on the bed. He can be house destructive and would be best suited in a home where he isn’t left alone a lot. He goes in his crate when asked, especially if bribed with a treat, but if left for too long he may destroy and eat his bedding.
He knows what "potty outside" means, but he still needs help to master the skill. He has not tried to climb or dig. He has gotten out the door 2 times, but stopped and was led back in with no problem.
Mac is a typical basenji and gets into trouble now and then, but the squirt bottle settles him down immediately. He will try to counter surf and he makes a great vacuum cleaner while you are cooking supper. He likes to follow us around the house and sit at our feet while we watch TV. He is easygoing and can be moved with no problem

Hmmm…that dog doesn't have any dew claws....anybody know if a breeder was tracked down? He is a nice looking dog.
-
You know, I "really dislike" reading the BRAT site and seeing the reasons…..... sigh... love the reasons... we had a son and another on the way, no time... we are moving, can't afford a fence... sigh......
-
Of course now there are BYB's that do take off the dew claws…. but I think this guy was in a shelter....

If it wasn't for….... like that, I wouldn't have Tucker. I can tell you one thing, though... If I have a kid, Tucker ain't goin' nowhere! (Of course, it would be rather difficult for me to have a kid, per se, since I'm male, but I don't think the point was missed...)
I would imagine a lot of 'those reasons', simply translated, mean: "Ooops! You mean this dog takes a lil' extra care to integrate into our family? Maybe a few extra minutes of training or a few extra minutes of attention? Golly! I should have read a little bit about the breed and made an educated decision..."
All the better for the likes of me.

This trindle boy is really cute! Looks like he belongs in my little pack with Duke & Daisy. (I wish) I'm sure BRAT will make sure this little adorable beauty will go with the right family.
-
That really is a very pretty boy and I have had breeders dogs show up in shelters, because the owners didn't want to contact the breeder.
I suggest you photo this photo on the basenji show list and see if anyone can recognize the dog. -

Unfortunately there's not enough people like you Tucker's Dad and too many pooches being given up :(.
I'm having TWO babies soon & they would have grab my pooches from my dying hands before I'd let them go anywhere! They have their own room in our new house

I just posted the photos and info to the Basenji show list.
So, if a responsible breeder recognizes this lovely dog, then they can
do what they need to do to get this dog back home. -

Thank you for that info.
I am assuming he is in the BRAT site yes? -
Yes he's brand new to Brat
-
Yes, I just recieved a post from Yvonne who is handling him for BRAT.
I told her I was sorry if I overstepped my bounderies, but I wanted to
share his photo in case he came from a responsible breeder.
Up here in the PNW, the basenji breeders go out of their way to help rescue when their dogs fall into our hands…and rescue does all we can to inform them.
This has built a nice network of folks who before didn't work together very well.
I know in some areas, rescue and breeders are at odds, and I think the only ones who suffer are the dogs.
So, again, If I overstepped by posting this I am sorry. -
I don't feel you over stepped, I believe we all have the dogs best interest at hand

I saw the photos and sent to a friend who is looking for a basenji buddy for his brindle girl. He immediately contacted the BRAT person handling him. (He has already applied to BRAT, is just waiting to see which (if any) dog he gets. That would be so cool if Max wound up here in Tampa, we don't have a trindle in our 'pack'…yet! John is a wonderful basenji owner & "dad" to his Savanna, his will be a great home for whichever boy he gets.
Thanks for posting that photo!Anne in Tampa
