Happy 12th Birthday, Senji!!!

Senji turned 12 today. A year ago, he almost died from severe liver disease. The vet said that he'd be lucky to live another year…so here's hoping he sticks around a while longer. He's just an expensive dog now...He takes 3-4 pills a day and most of the food he eats is homemade. He's just too smart, and always seems to leave behind the ball of chicken with the milk thistle pill inside. :p
He enjoyed opening his presents today. I wanted to buy him a new raincoat, but PetsMart was totally out of stock of any kind of apparel his size. I ended up getting him some of his favorite treats...Greenies and Better than Ears(fake pig's ears). After his 2nd walk of the day, he's exhausted and taking a nap now. -

He still acts like a young pup. Thank goodness we have a compounding pharmacist nearby who mixes up his special medicine (Ursodiol). As long as he stays away from red meat, he seems to be OK. He had a nice, big ground turkey breast burger today for lunch.

Thanks for the well wishes!Interesting, Ursodiol is for gall stones? How does that help the liver? I ask because Kristii has liver problems, had a tumor removed about 2 yrs ago now, but it regrows (but non cancerous)…
