A campsite would be good for them to roam around. When we take on vacation, I also make sure to visit any local pet cafe so they could eat food we usually don't cook.

As I have said before, I work on the principle that I am bigger than they are and it is MY house. Make a tremendous song and dance about unimportant misdeamours and pretend to ignore the serious infringements. Then when the pack wants to punish me they do something which they know will get them the most attention - screaming and tears from me. But a bored Basenji will tend to destruction if there is nothing else to do. It needs plenty to hold its interest. Toys, bones, a companion.

@codizzle1988 Was just a comment about Basenjis in general (backyard comment) It will take time to correct the bad habits, but know this, my Tri Girl can be found sitting in the middle of the kitchen table every now and again... she looks at you with a look that says "I can sit here if I want to"! One thing that a Basenji will do is teach people to pick up after themselves, if not it becomes fair game

LOL well she probably liked it better when I took her, but if not, oh well… lol. Also, btw, the neighbors said their dog's name was Sarah. I thought, how sweet. Til I found out why... it was short for "Midnight Serenade" ... which she did and you could hear even if she was in the house lol.

@MaxBooBooBear: It sounds like she has a case of separation anxiety–not just grieving. I think there are several threads here on handling separation anxiety--which is a pretty difficult situation. I went through the same thing when I had to have Max's lifetime companion put to sleep. I got help from a veterinary behavioral specialist. I agree. She should be through the grieving process by now (5 months later), and it may have developed into SA. Sad to say, it's generally not easy to fix, but it can be done with a lot of time, patience and love. You might want to Google it and see if the symptoms fit her behavior patterns and how one can start on the road to alleviating it. Poor baby. Good luck.

My heart seems to beat more each day and it's not always because I'm running after my B- Champ but because when I he comes home from a walk with Daddy and I've come home and surprise him, he walks up to me with his ears so far back I think they might actually touch. When he gives up after a nipping fight and pushes up next to me on the couch like saying I'm sorry ,you won Mommy. Because he lets me kiss him as much as I want whenever I want. Because when I make weird noises or stand in back of him looking in the mirror he moves his head back and forth like if he was saying what you doing now Mommy. He's such a terror but damn I love this little boy. Because after I had to put my toy poodle Nino to sleep(he will forever be in my heart) I thought i could never love another dog again and he has proved me wrong. ….Thanks I love this game.
