Welcome aboard, but do share his registered name ? Who are Dad and Mom and what was his date of birth so we can be sure to add him to the Basenji pedigree on-line database (with a photo ???) for the world to share him.

Care to tell us who the parents are and date of birth, also registered name ? Then your new baby will be sure to get into the Basenji on-line Pedigree database (see signature block) and you can have hours of fun tracing back to the Founders.
Meantime, welcome to the forum !

Yay! We will be right behind you so do keep us posted on how the potty training is going. We'll be picking up a 9 week old girl at the end of February.

It’s so great to hear of another person with a B in Georgia!! We live in Gainesville, Ga on Lake Lanier. Where did you find your B? I looked for a long time before we got our dog Dukes. Dukes just turned 1. Oh how I do remember the potty training phase! Hang in there. They catch on to things (when they feel like it... lol) very quickly. Congrats on your new pup!

Thanks everyone, She’s doing pretty good at the potty thing today and I’m just trying to be patient and positive with her. I just got off work and had to take her out to potty in the cold and she went quickly and headed right back into the house. Lol. I’ve got her sleeping in a kennel next to the bed but she’s still having some issues with the kennel. She’d rather sleep with me I think Lol. She’s very playful and eating well. I’ll post more later. Thanks again for the posts!

@joewbasenjidad I'm sure she would rather be with you. And why not, pray ? All Basenji puppies need Mom !
-
@elkay
Yes trying to only have her potty outside.
-
@joewbasenjidad - It takes time.... typically pups need to poop after eating, take her out and stay with her... telling her to go potty.... it doesn't happen overnight or after one time. They will get the idea. How was she trained by her breeder with the litter?
-
@joewbasenjidad - Hope that you will share her sire/dam's registered names and also her registered name. Many of us are related by our Basenjis.
-
I will I got her at Mibre Basenjis from Leo in Florida. Her Mom is Foxy and her Dad is Hatter and once I get The paperwork in I’ll update. Her name is Gatsby Ann and she was born 12/3/20
-
She is doing great as of today no accidents in house and she’s doing awesome for just having her since Sunday. Today we played a bunch and the weather was finally warm enough to play outside a bunch.
-
@joewbasenjidad yes please ! I'm pretty sure she'll be in the data base or that Leo will.send me full litter data, but to make sure. . . It would help to have registered names of mom and dad And puppy ! In due course.

Congratulations on your new family member! Love her name!!! Don't be surprised that if it is raining, all her careful training goes away. MANY Basenjis HATE to get wet. A raincoat can help...at least it does with my rain averse Binti!

@nancyss
Always enjoy the Binti photos! 🥰️ -

I’ve taken her out once in rain and yes she does not dig it at all. Luckily I have a lower covered deck at my house so I can Take her out dry

She is doing great in the potty department but she was sad today and I could tell. I tried to love on her a lot. No inside potty accidents! Woot woot!
-
@kembe Did you happen to notice she is usually sleeping? LOL!
-
Gatsby is doing great so far and she even went potty in a little bit of snow last night! She’s sleeping through the night (almost lol) the kids and I are Enjoying playing tug of war with her and she loves the rawhide bones . !

I would suggest you be careful with rawhide. I quit using rawhide chews and bones when one of mine got a piece lodged in her digestive system, causing a partial blockage. We were lucky to get it shifted without surgery. The other potential issue is that dogs can get quite possessive about those when they have become softened up a bit. My girls would go to war over them and even growl at me if I removed one when it was getting sufficiently icky and small that I was concerned about her potentially swallowing the remains whole. I didn't like the possessiveness and resource guarding that seemed to result.
