  • I am new to the site. I am picking up my baby Cheyenne on the 27th and can not wait to get her home. Wanted to stop by and say hi. I have own a Basenji before so I know what they are like but wanted to get in with other people who have them and see what they have to say..

  • Wonderful and as always the first thing we want to remind you is that you hopefully check the Fanconie Status of the sire and dam of your puppy before purchase - and that the information is public and on the OFFA.org website.

    Looking forward to pictures.

  • Are you talking about the mom and dad ? We did see papers on them if that is what you are talking about.. Pictures are up

  • Do you mean paperwork that said they are clear of Fanconie Disease or do you mean registration papers? Not seeing any pics but the internet reveals things in it's own time - LOL

  • I have the Reg papers. What do I need for the Fanconie Disease to check on it? I am new so sorry for all the ??? Pictures are on my profile

  • Welcome…

I already peeked at the puppy pics you posted and your baby is precious :)

Thank you for the welcome and the comment on Cheyenne

  • I just peeked too, and she is precious, that's for sure!
They look like such angels when they are puppies that they really do look like babies. :) It's that innocence that captures our hearts and will later make us question our insanity, lol.

    Welcome to the Forum!

  • Hi re Fanconi,
if you go onto the http://www.offa.org website you should be able to see the status of Cheyenne's sire and dam and hopefuly the pups too.
You could also ask the breeder if the pups have been tested but the reccomendation is to check yourself as well on the ofa site.

I look forward to your pictures. I'm a technophobe too - I keep telling myself I can do it but so far haven't posted any. One of my bitches was spoiled for the show ring by such a judge who didn't know how to approach a hound (although he was a Saluki judge and should have!). She was experienced at showing as well but was traumatised because when she backed away at his front on, silly voice approach she nearly fell from the table! Of course she blamed the fall on his approach. I worked on her intensively but to no avail. Yes, Basenjis on the whole are friendly and they never forget a friend either!

MacPack, where is Dogwood Park located? I haven't heard of it. I live in Orange Park and we have a fairly nice one here several miles from me. They too have a large pond and wooded area and plenty of seats, even a few hammocks for us humans. We have had a membership in the past; now we only go sometimes as a visitor.

Welcome and kudos to you for helping with rescues! It sounds like Kowboy was a great introuction to the breed. I'm sorry for your loss of him and Indy. this is a great place to share and keep memories alive. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a speedy relocation back to your family in CA!

I live near the mountains in Colorado. There are some great trails with open space all around to let thme run around. Gosh I'm so jealous!! We don't have any plasce we could let our pooches loose. I would love a big open space sans any basenji prey :) that way they'll come back
