I've tried bait and no bait in the ring. I think bait works better for Logan, but not for me. He likes it and responds to it well, but as a new handler it's a pain in the butt. I know what I'm expected to do. Doing it once in the ring is hard. I get caught up in the minute and then forget what I'm supposed to do the next. I once stacked Logan backwards on the table. D'oh! Logan is SUPER food driven and he knows if I have cookies in my pocket. That's all he'll pay attention to. Jumping on the handler is frowned upon. Yes, I know training and time will cure it. Not there yet. Too many hobbies. Showing, breeding, MGBs, stereos, astronomy, motorcycles, family, friends, travel, house, etc. I need more time.

@Borbasuk: I have judged a couple of overseas specialties and have found my efficient and helpful stewards to be worth their weight in gold; they always are of course, but with an unfamiliar system and language this is even more true.:) That is so true, a good ring steward is for sure worth their weight in gold regardless of the situation. I have nothing but the greatest respect for a good ring steward…... and I can image being in a situation that you are in a strange country with different judging procedures how much the judge would rely on the ring steward

Hi Stef-how have you been. I haven't seen much of you in the last couple of years. You probably don't remember me though. I'm usually with Lynn Arrand and Sue Wilcox. If your dog is CKC registered, we require 10 points including at least one 'major' (two points or more). It's not super hard to obtain a championship-unless you have a black as I do. Black is pretty well always dead last. But now they do require one two point win. The only problem is that we kind of have to co-ordinate a show. Since there aren't many of us, we get together and decide which shows we will be entering. It's more like a friendly event than competition. It's fun and a social event for us if you can imagine.
