I worked on Kipawa's training yesterday at the dog park, where there were many distractions. His recall is excellent there, but that may be because he just needs to feel his mom is close by? Then when he gets to me I make him sit, then he gets a treat. In the house it is a little different. Recall is about 60% right now, but sit is very good - about 80%.
First Major

Today, C-Me (Klassic-Tanza Color Me Tri) was 1st in open and BOB for her first 4pt AKC Lure Major…
Franic was second to C-Me and the both had excellent runs!

Spectacular news! Congrats to all of you - the hard work pays off!

Very exciting.. Congratulations!

LOL… no really it is all up to the dogs... Lure Coursing is about them... granted you need to get them focused on the lure before running in a regular trial... but they need to have the "want" to do it....
-
Oh and just to add… the BOB runoff was a course of the "ME's"... It was C-Me and Trii-Me. gggg
-
Coursing would be something I'd love to get Oakley into. He has a great drive for anything that moves rapidly… Unfortunately I dont know much about it and if events like that are around my area. Not to mention I can't get Oakley to listen to the "stay" command to save my life! My hats off to you!
-
Congrats! They are both nice running girls.

Thanks Lisa, I think they are really getting the "hang" of coursing. Lisa's L'Ox was 1st over them at their first trial a couple of weeks ago, but it was really two good runs for all three.

LOL, don't need a "stay" for coursing….. find one in your area and go out there... bet that he would have a great time

They were very good runs, L'Ox liked running with girls and they definately gave him a challenge, I really thought Franie was take it and probably would have until that last straight in the finals.

congrats. I wish we were not in a 100+ degree summer. All our pups have had is some lunge whip time since memorial day, can't wait for fall coursing season and cooler temps.
-
Congratulations
-
WTG! That is fantastic!
-
Congratulations…very nice news indeed. Did you get any pictures?
I can't wait for this fall, will try to find some lurecoursing in our HOT, miserable part of TX...;), I bet Pippin and Moses would love it. Our two acres has ruts of them running chase with each other...speed demons that they are. -
Tanza, how would I find out about lure coursing meets in my area? I couldn't find anything on the bcoa website under events? Excuse my "newbieness"
-
You can find events in your area doing an event search on the AKC website, http://www.akc.org, or looking at the event calendar at the ASFA website, http://www.asfa.org
-
When you go to the AKC site, go to Events, Event and Awards Search and then you can search for lure coursing.
Also I am pretty sure they have lots of straight line and oval racing in the Northeast. I don't have those links, but I think that lvoss could supply them for you.
-
Thanks! I would really like to get Oakley into coursing, I know he would enjoy it and he would get the socialization of being at events which always provides an invaluable experience.

Thanks Pat and Lisa, I'll look into that. Another question though- there is a novice rally event happening on the 6th in MA near us, would that be something I could take Oakley to?? Thanks for your thoughts
