  • @Quercus:

Sorry, laughed out loud too ;) 5 years is like the blink of an eye at our age :)

Blink of an eye… at my age it is a nano second!

  • I just did fileing from 2005 last week:)

  • @sinbaje:

Sorry I can not help you but I do have one question.

You were 8 when you bred her which was 2004-2005? Making you 13 to 14 years of age? Or did I read this wrong?

I do have to laugh that you would think 5-6 years was a really long time ago. :O)

You know what, I never actually thought about it. Maybe i was like 13 or 14. lol! My bad! and ya i supose 5-6 years isnt that long. but its a long time in dog years! lol

Did you happen to know of anything that might come in handy to me in my "Search for the Missing Bs" hehe

haha you guys are funny. :P

  • You could check out Sally Wallis site..see if they are there…

I looked on there. The only one on there is Benji Boy J, which we already figured out was Missys puppy. We cant find any of the other Bs tho. :( or their owners. And i cant get ahold of BBJ's owner. Jennifer, she doesnt respond to my messages :( maybe she is just offline and has not been online in a while :)

  • OK I HAVE THE INFORMATION. Found some old papers!

The litter was born 11-3-02. There were 2 males and 4 females. The parents are the same.

So the dogs should be officially around 7yrs, 10mos. 8 years old

  • Unless you have some information on the people you sold the pups to, I'm not sure how you would find them. Even if they are on Sally's database, she doesn't keep track of the owners, just breeders (and that isn't given publicly on the site). You'd be pretty lucky if they were on a forum like this. Maybe post on some of the basenji-related FB groups or pages too?

  • You could also try Dogster.com.

Make sure your basenji gets along with the new one. My basenji George did not always get along with other dogs and especially other basenjis. We found George and his "wife" and their puppies. We found homes for most of them but kept two of the puppies and the dad, George. The two puppies and the dad did fight on occasion and it was not a good time. We ended up giving up the puppies , who were with us for a couple of years since they killed one of our cats and another of our dogs. I LOVED my basenji George, my love of my life dog, what a personality but I would not have more than one. Maybe the females are better behaved than the males as George and the one of the puppies were male. Did not get along. Your Vinny looks a lot like my George. George passed away on Feb 14 2018 at the age of around 20 years old. We found him in 1999 and he died in 2018. My husband and I say he is the one dog we will have the best stories on as we grow old. We rescue animals so he was one of many dogs. He certainly stole my heart- I miss him so much. Good luck in your search Helen

@cleopatra888 said in Looking to adopt a Basenji - Michigan or surrounding states.: Hello. I live in Tehkummah and very interested to see if you still have this Basenji available. I am trying my luck. Thanks in advance. Cliff Stobra01 responded: Molly, who is located near you... Stobra01 says that >>Molly has gone to All Heart Pet Rescue in Powassan, Ontario, juat outside of North Bay. They have a Facebook page<< I am not sure if this is the right group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/8543502122/ but seems right for finding help on a rescue.

Dear Debra, Thanks for the notes and looking up options nearby. We had already written to the Swiss basenji email address, but didn't get a response. We'd be willing to take him to nearby countries in Europe for the right fit. Perhaps now we will try writing to the other countries' basenji groups. He is such a lovely dog, and we want a good situation for him. He has come a long way and is much calmer now that he's a bit older! Cheers

Hi Roxanne, if you are still looking for a basenji, you may want to go to www.basenjirescue.org- a great group of volunteers who rescue and place basenjis. :)

Thank you MacPac. I contacted 2 breeders in the Gainesville-Ocala area but they don't have any available at the moment. We'll keep looking. Thank you everyone for the great suggestions :)
