    My first B, Shaka came to us 15 years ago today (Ides of March) and left us on 3/21/08 (on Good Friday) - this made me realize that his littermate brother (who we got 3 months after) , Yoda is actually 15 years old (and not 14 as I had thought)! He's still pretty energetic and looks young, but now I'm more concerned. Extra treats for him! ;-)

    Just keep doing what you have been doing… a 15 year old basenji is a testament to the care their owner is giving them. But yes, extra treats and kisses are a must!

    I think that Basenji people have to have a special sense of humor to choose this breed in the first pace, and Basenjis have the same sense of humor, doing things that crack us up and then cuddling up and demanding attention and love. Of course we love our Basenjis and want to gush about them...it comes with Basenji territory!!!!

    EL D is almost 4 and his neck is 14. My Vet carries a toothpaste made by C.E.T. that comes in chicken or seafood flavor. It supposed to be better for tartar control.

    i do not recommend that…..i tried that once and my b's were ok and didnt do anything or get into anything for like 3 days after that was horrible i think they get bored but i dont crate mine....they have their own room and they stay there when were gone

    @ChaseandZahrasmom: Let's all just be thankful that B's are small dogs and not 110 Lbs beast! At least we can pick them up and tuck them under an arm and walk away with them while training! LOL! I have to do the same thing with Zahra sometimes. Amen! I was just thinking this earlier today while trying to control my pup…
