I'm not sure if your dog is young or a puppy but it sounds like it. Puppies are especially prone to skeletal issues such as strains or breaks because their bones are still soft and growing. Same with the muscles, they are constantly growing and susceptible to injury. Just because she has moments of play that doesn't mean she's ok- dogs have an uncanny ability to override pain signals when something else is on their minds. Others have suggested patella issues, and while I can't speak to that I know Tanza is a breeder and knows well the issues that can affect our breed, let alone knowing about identifying issues. Good that you have an Appointment, in the meantime- continue to limit jumping and running so nothing furthers the problem. Is she has lax (loose) ligaments this can cause popping and will be a lifetime concern for injury if not carefully supervised. If it were me, I would want to contact an orthopedic, so if your vet doesn't have a definite cause that is a good route to go. Might be an initial cost but in the long run save you a lot
Sick pup, help stomach virus
-
Make a paste of baking soda and warm water and back in where the hole is - wrap with gauze and then hold her so she doesn't rip it apart for about 30 min and then repeat as needed

How is she today?

Beni, our female pup that started off with intestinal virus then started swelling is doing much better. Her fever has left, her muzzle swelling is gone and her foot is almost back to normal with a small abcess still draining but healing….not sure that we'll know if she was bit by a spider or bee or what but we are so grateful for all the people that supported and helped our girl. This was my first experience with forum and I'll be a frequent visitor,,such aa great resource and opportunity to hang with b's and basenji owners...thanks again. Jen

Yes, keep us posted. Ahhh… young animals. They always seem to learn their lessons regarding bees, wasps, spiders, frogs....

Funny thing today…I found a large dead bumblebee on the ground today without its stinger and pretty beat up...I'm thinking our lil girl learned a valuable lesson that not everything that buzzes is a fun sicada(sp?). Doing pretty well today, onery lil thing!

I'm relievd to hear that your little girl is geting better. I have difficulties in persuading mine that a seemingly dead bee or wasp can be just as dangerous as a live one.

I am sadder than expressable today to say our beloved has left us @ not quite 9 mos. She took a turn for the worse yesterday and passed today after three cardiac arrests. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.
-
Oh my goodness… I'm so sorry for your sudden and unexpected loss.
-
Very sorry for your loss. Our hearts and thoughts are with you.

I was shocked and sad that your beloved Beni had died. I can't begin to express my sorrow and commiserations. My thoughts are with you.

So sorry for your untimely loss. Does your vet have any idea what may have caused the illness?
-
I am so sorry to hear of your loss, sending you virtual hugs and prayers for peace in your heart and mind. She was way to young to cross the bridge. Did you ever conclude what made her so ill in the first place? Was it a bug sting?

Oh my God! I have tears in my eyes for you. No one ever expects a young dog to meet with an early passing. My heartfelt condolences to you, my friend.
-
Oh, no, I'm so sorry to read this. Condolences from our house to yours.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. We had to put our Suni down in April and understand what you go through right now.
