Elsa is now 9 months old and doing great. We are considering getting another Basenji. Would like anyones opinions on if she is still to young to introduce another dog to the home? Getting a male or a female? Pros and cons on multiples? and what age dog to get. Thank you everyone for your input.
I love at least two, they will play and keep each other company. I would think she is prime for a playmate at her age. You could get another puppy, or a young adult. Lots of 3-4 month old pups with BRAT in Florida, hint, hint.
We got our second B (Miles) when Akeyla was 11months and Miles was 10months. They get along super!! I agree that you should get male if you have a female or vise versa.
I think they all do that if they think it will get them released. AJ's almost 7 years old and still does that. Once he understands I'm not going to let him out just because he cries, he quiets down. After he's quiet for a few minutes, I open the crate and let him out. He stops crying faster each time.
@snorky998:
Glad your play date went well. Have a great vacation. I'll patiently wait for the play date pictures if you promise to post a few vacation pictures as well!!!
Have fun.
:D I'll do that, the B's went to the uhm, home for the elderly and iI made some pics, then the day before they went crazy with eachother… also made pics..
So I've committed to getting a brindle basenji pup January 7th. She'll be about 18 weeks old by then so hopefully not too old to cultivate a healthy, non-homicidal relationship with my cat. The wait is killing me, feels worse than waiting for christmas day as a kid ha ha.
Sharron! Thanks!
I'll look for a copy of the book. My family hikes a bit, but haven't taken the dogs out yet.
LOL, we're always prepared to have to carry a kid back, so a dog should not be a problem. ;-)
Please tell Teriann thank you also.
