Dog friendly areas in Northern California?

Basenji Talk
  • Hello! there is a possibility that Tayda, Lenny and I will be moving Northern California in the next few months! I noticed there are a lot of Northern Californians on the forum and I'm wondering where the really dog friendly area are. I might be working in San Jose, and would prefer to live about 1/2 hour north - maybe in Freemont/Union City/Newark area. Is this area dog friendly? Are there fenced in Dog Parks around?

Hello there! I live in Cupertino and work in San Jose. Here are two websites that will tell you what dog parks, trails and even hotels you can take your B to.

Well, the lab I mentioned (chocolate overweight one) almost took me out by slamming into my knee. I commented loudly " he better not insure my knee!" No comment from the owner. Others were keeping an eye on this over exhuberant dog too. Many peeps were standing behind a bench for protection. What really bugs me is that the park has very visible signs when you enter it that say you must have control of your dog.

Owning a basenji requires a good sense of humor and a large dose of patience and a willingness to do some creative thinking to convince the basenjis what you want is really the same thing as what they want. So true, never a dull moment with these dogs

That's right I forgot about goose poop. Also flattened dead dried out birds. Mine also would eat dirt and tan bark. "What the hell was I missing in their diet" I'd ask myself. (-:

It is good to hear that Las Vegas is pet friendly. I am going to Las Vegas this weekend for a dog show. We are actually staying in Hendersen in the Residence Inn which allows dogs and is close to the show grounds.
