RE: Another "Does Anyone Know this Breeder?"
I saw an ad from someone in Cypress, TX for CKC B pups. The area code was 713 which is a Houston area code. I do not know if the ad was current though. This breeder may be Mary Alaniz. Is anyone familiar with her? Her ad has CKC as her affiliation!
How did CKC Bs get so popular and why would anyone want to buy a pup if they are not health tested at least for Fanconi?
The OH Amish breeders also have/had CKC registered Bs.
Jennifer
I bought my pup from Mary Alaniz. She said his parents had been tested. He will be a year old in 5 days. So far no health problems. She was very nice and told me if I have any questions or need advice to contact her. I researched the breed and breeders for over a year before I bought one. I think if the dogs are well bred (in terms of genetics) and are healthy that it is oK if they are not AKC registered, especially if you are not interested in showing and are going to have them fixed anyways. Also, her dogs are pets to her, not just a dollar sign, she seems to really care about them, they live in her house, unlike some breeders who keep dogs in kennels.

The adventures of Channing!
Here is a little shortened photo timeline of my life with my basenji, Channing. The first photo was when I picked him out from the litter of pups, The second photo was after we got home from picking him up from the airport. We lived at my apartment for 5 days before taking a 15 hour road trip down to Gulfport Mississippi for a horse show I was working at and showing at, where we stayed for 3 weeks. This was his first time ever seeing the ocean and experiencing the beach as well as his first horseshow. My boss had a JRT pup, Daisy, who was a month older Channing and they quickly became bestfriends. After spending 3 weeks in Gulfport we drove up to Indiana to visit my parents and brothers for a week (it was my spring break week), where Channing played frisbee for the first time. He also (thought he) helped repair the dishwasher. We went back to Ky and watched every UK game together and often with friends too, but when we won our 8th national title mom & her friends took me home because it was way to wild for a puppy His favorite thing to do (other than help manage the horse farms) is to go seadoing when we're at my parents. He could seadoo all day long! We do goofy things together, such as taking silly pictures and we made a birthday card for my brother one night. He just recently got to go to my parents hunting cabin, located on 40 acres of woods. We went on lots of hikes and played in the field. We also went 4wheeling (very slowly on groomed terrain) , which he enjoyed, but not quite as much as seadoing.
P.S. he will be celebrating is 1st birthday on November 7th

Best Basenji Clothing?
Hi my basenjis needs some clothes. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where to get clothes that fit basenjis well (that is also affordable!) More specifically, my B really needs a good raincoat as well as he will need some winter booties for this winter. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Meet "Channing" from Lexington, Ky
Hi Everyone!
This is Channing, my 10 month old Basenji. He is my best friend who goes every where with me. He enjoys hanging out at horse shows as well as going boating. He is the first basenji I have ever owned but I fell in love with the breed 2 years ago when researching various dog breeds and had to have one for myself. We would love to get to know other basenji owners and trainers in the area. I am interested in getting him into lure coursing as a sport, though I do not know much about the sport other than what I have read on the internet.

Looking for a lure coursing trainer!
Hi,
I have a basenji whom I think would love lure coursing. I do not know much about the sport other than the general information I have read on the internet. I am looking for someone with experience in the sport of lure coursing to help me get a start in it. I am looking for a trainer near the Lexington, Ky area. Any and all suggestions/references would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
