What a cute picture! B's are so loving and have no problem sharing space with a loved one. Sometimes we look at Dolce and wonder how she wakes up without a kink in her neck. She also likes to be buried deep under covers, even when it's hot. Maybe it makes her feel closer to her homeland (near the equator). "-)
Sleeping through the storm

We are in coastal NC until next week, and outer bands of Hurricane Irene have started to move over us. It's not too bad right now, just windy and rainy. Cody has been curled up in a ball on the couch without a care in the world for over an hour. I'll probably join him soon
-
Please stay safe!
-
He's hoping you won't notice him and take him outside for "last call".
+1 on the stay safe
-
We're safe, prepared, and ready to leave if the worst happens
I tried to take him out about 2 hours ago and he just looked at me like I was the world's biggest idiot, lol. The rain is supposed to let up for just a bit soon, so I'm going to coax him out then. Most likely, I'll pick him up and carry him to the middle of the yard, let him do his business, and then carry him back inside. No, he doesn't have me wrapped around his little toe at all! -
+2 on stay safe. I love how Cody has hid his 'snoot' to keep it nice and warm.
-
And again on 'stay safe'. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
-
Hugs to you and everyone on the east coast.

Glad that he and hopefully you can be calm while the storm rages outside..stay safe.

Just wanted to let you all know that we are fine. Thankfully, there was very little damage to our property, just a lot of branches down and damaged fencing.
Cody slept through most of it, and he was very good about going outside for random potty breaks when the rain let up. When our power went out, it got extremely hot in our house, but because the rain was blowing in through the windows, we couldn't open them without soaking the carpet or furniture. We had to open the doors and put the dog gates up. Usually he would have just jumped them, but he was very good about not trying to escape… not that I blame him.
I am just very thankful that it was not as bad as we expected it to be. Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers.

That's great news! Branches can be cleaned up and fences can be mended.
-
I will possibly be jumped on for this - but can I suggest that as Cody was calm, nothing would happen? I honestly think that dogs (and animals in general) are far more attuned to meteorological danger than we are….

I can see that, to an extent. Cody and Moe, our mix, are inconsolable during thunderstorms. Thunder and lightning scare the crap out of them (sometimes literally), but the wind was around 80+ mph sustained and gusting to almost 100 mph at times, and there were a few tornadoes that touched down not too far from us (thankfully we were not in their paths). Our house shook with the gusts, but the boys were together cuddled up next to me or someone else the whole time.
Maybe some dogs are more sensitive than others, or maybe they are sensitive to different things. Moe will pace, shake, and attempt to sit in our laps almost an hour before a thunderstorm comes, during it, and afterwards. Cody will pace and grunt but wants to be left alone during thunderstorms. There wasn't any thunder with this storm, though.
