    @Anubis's: Awesome! Thanks for the info! Im going to get right on that. Will be good to to know he's not a carrier as well in case I ever wanted to breed him. Now the strip testing, is it with a diabetes test thing? Do I test his blood or urine? Urine, you use Diabetic test strips for sugar in the urine. Here is a link for them on line. You don't really need the Ketone part, but sometime hard to find just the Urine strips.     I want my basenji to have an African name, so I searched African names via Google. Most of the sites tell you what African language the name is from and what the name means. It was an enjoyable process!

    Good luck to you…I really mean that. :) One more thought on this... The most important people in my life are not just "yes men"...they can see when my judgment is clouded by emotion. We might not like what people have to say, but if you step back and look at comments objectively, you'll see that they are meant to help and to give a reality check. The senior members on this forum have HUGE EXPERIENCE...they have great advice, even if it hasn't always been what I've wanted to hear. Please...please...read lvoss' post and then read it again. To me, that is the clearest explanation as to what the danger is by rushing in.
