Lost Basenji around 71st and Oak street. Redish brown fur with a white belly and white socks around her feet. She is a friendly but shy dog that should respond to the name Sam. Please call 816-349-1117 or 913-269-1520 if found or any questions.

  • Good news! Sam returned home today! :)

  • @Patty:

Good news! Sam returned home today! :)

    That's great news!

  • i'm so glad to read that. she looked so loved in that pic.

  • Patty: Did she return on her own or did someone return her? I am always afraid of mine escaping, and although she knows the area real well here, don't know if she would come home eventually. I've read about so many who don't. So glad yours did!!

  • The email that I received from the owner said she returned on her own the next day. Like you, I'm worried that if my new basenji escaped, she wouldn't know her way home. :)

BTW, did you know that here, in Florida, many of the county animal shelters contact BRAT whenever a basenji is captured? I think it is awesome that BRAT has such credibility within the animal rescue community, and it instills confidence in me that BRAT is thought of so highly….

I live in AL, not near Abbeville, but I've got friends/family all over. I'll post it on Facebook and email an Alabama pet lost/found group that was established after the April 27th tornados.

@DolceMomma: Hi all, I got the most wonderful gift tonight…holding my beloved little Spot on my lap and in my arms while he slept. He's home with us at last. Thank you all so much for your thoughts, your prayers, and your help. Thank God for the happy news! I'm sure that Amy is happy to have Mr. Spot back in her arms. I'm so glad to read another story to encourage lost owners to NEVER give up on lost b's! :)

@seaslugg@aol.com: We got Raven home tonight!! Thank you for support!!! I am so happy you got Raven home. You now can be a good ambassador to the "don't use invisible fencing" brigade. Call any animal shelter and find out how many dogs they get in with collars on. Once a dog bolts through the pain, they won't risk it coming back in. Many end up dead. There are lots of options if you can't have "real" fencing, but often the only choice is simply go out with your dog, on a lead or line. Apt folks survive doing it. Oh wait, and so do the dogs. Please post pics and yes, PLEASE tell us how you got your pet back!

I just tried the link to Craigslist and it isn't working - it says 'page not found'. Does this dog have a name on his collar?
